We have developed this list to help current and potential affiliates choose affiliate marketing networks that best suit there needs. The number 1 consideration with an affiliate network should be their payment cycle. In other words, how quickly does the affiliate network pay their affiliates? This is especially true for pay per click affiliates, but is still true for any business that plans significant growth.
Most affiliate networks still pay net 15 - meaning they pay you the 15th day after your previous month's earnings. So for all of your July earnings you would be paid on August 15th. However, most networks also will shorten the payment cycles once you hit certain volume levels.
That being said, you still want to start with the networks with the shorter payment cycles or the ones with the lowest income threshold required to shorten the payment cycles. For example one network may allow affiliates who earn $1,000/week to be paid weekly, whereas another may require an affiliate to earn $20,000 per month before they'll even consider bi-monthly payments.
Obviously, all things being equal, you should choose the affiliate networks with the shorter payment cycle and/or the lower earnings threshold required to reach the shorter payment cycles.
Remember, almost any offer you run can typically be secured by most of the major affiliate networks. So don't think just because a network has an offer that you can only run it through them. In fact, even the networks that list offers as "exclusives" actually will contract those offers out to other networks...which means you often can take even the "exclusive" offers over to other networks or find other networks that have them.
We try to keep our review criteria as objective as possible. This means we don't talk about the "quality" of the offers, whether the company is mismanged, if the affiliate managers are annoying, etc. We report mostly on things that can be numerically verified.
Here is our current criteria for selecting affiliate networks to work with:
