Is HydraMedia listening?

HydraMedia recently did a survey of their affiliates asking them what they liked and didn't like about HydraMedia in order to improve their relationship with their affiliates. I won't go into exact numbers, but here is the funniest thing that came out of the whole thing:

Hydra sends an email out later saying:

"Most of you have always called us "Hydra", so we’ve decided to join you. We have shortened our name to just plain Hydra. You’ll notice a shorter logo, and that’s about it."

Now I'm sure that is the top thing an affiliate is concerned about - the name of the network. I mean, they wouldn't care about payouts, shorter payment cycles, how well the backend is organized, campaign descriptions. No. Obviously the BIGGEST thing on an affiliates mind is the NAME of the network they are working with.

Yes, the name. Now that HydraMedia has changed their name to  Hydra I feel "listened to". I feel respected. I feel that they really value me as an affiliate.

Thank you HydraMedia - I mean "Hydra". Now I can sleep well at  night

I assure you we listened, and continue to listen, very carefully to our current and future affiliates. We changed our company name and sent out an announcement email to that affect but the new name did not happen because of feedback from our affiliate survey — it actually had been in the works for a while we changed our official business name (not just our logo) and procured a new domain name from its previous owner. That timing was a coincidence.

We learned lots of valuable information about what our affiliates like and dislike about our network, and what they'd like changed as we continue to improve the network. Much of the feedback requires significant programming or organizational changes that will take months to implement but that's fine with us. You will see many of the suggestions implemented fairly soon, but not overnight. The first thing that will be retooled based on this feedback is our marketing effort to affiliates. The turnaround time on advertising is much quicker than making significant changes to complex databases.

I encourage you to contact myself or your Affiliate Manager if you'd like to know more about Hydra or anything we send out. We'd be happy to clarify anything you have questions about.

Cheers!

Thanks, Josiah, for taking the time to post.

I should point out that my review of Hydra is overwhelmingly positive.

I guess it was just odd timing since the email came after the survey and said "thanks for your idea".

Well, it's not the most exciting topic, but it has to be announced since it affects the Terms & Conditions, among other things. We were just trying to be (a little) cute… :-)

Hydra, is a ripoff, be careful even if you "think" you have a good relationship with them. Affiliates Beware
