Do you want me to do this?

I keep thinking of putting together a list of real home-based data entry companies (for free) for subscribers to work at home truth.

UPDATE: Click here for the list of real home-based data entry companies (for free).

If you're more interested in home businesses, you can skip this, although you might want to read my "Good or Evil" review of a ten-dollar product marketers have probably been flooding your email boxes with here. I think I give a pretty unique perspective.

You can read the "Good or Evil" review here.

Otherwise, let's talk about putting together the data entry company list (by the way, I've also been playing with Google alerts to see which keywords bring back the most legitimate results for telecommuting positions in general. I'll let you know when I have enough data on that).

Here's what holds me back.

  • Data entry jobs are incredibly hard to land because there's so much competition.
  • A significant amount of data entry is done by overseas workers who are willing to do it for as little as $1.50/hour (not all data entry has moved overseas, but a lot of it has).
  • The people I've known who have found data entry positions have found it either through networking or volunteering for a company first.

However, it really wouldn't take that long for me to put a list together. So I'd like to know two things:

1) Would you like me to compile the list.

2) Would you rather me put it up as a web pages or create a PDF document for you or both?

I'd appreciate it if you'd leave a comment letting me know. At least that way I know I'm not talking to myself. LOL. :-)

I'd really like to have an honest to goodness way of making some extra income at home without getting ripped off. I think it would be great if someone like you would help people like me get a start at working from home for a reliable company that would honestly pay us an income. There's too many fraudulant people put here trying to steal from honest working people who really need a way to supplement their income, I know because I got ripped off and I didn't have the money to lose. Thanks

I've been looking for years for the "Real Deal". Is it actually out there? I have tried several companies that say "Follow our guidelines and you can make excellent money". I finish the job, send the required information and every time (not just once or twice) there was something wrong with my work. It's funny because I write for several publications and do some freelance editing and never have a problem. I'd love to see what you come up with.

I think that would be very nice of you to put together a data entry job list. Weather you do it as a web page or PDF doc. or both, I think it's just really wonderful that you would be willing to take the time in the first place to make a list for those of us who are looking to try and make some money to get some bills paid and who don't have many skills other than data entry. Thank you for even thinking of doing a list.

I understand the your reticience considering the difficulites of actually landing a position. That said, I think it would be great if you would publish the list. Yes, that would be great. Either way works for me. I have been online since the early '90's and have checked out thousands of sites claiming work at home jobs and nearly all of them costs you money or is a scam. I know there are legitimate opportunities out there, but like you said, there are also lots of competition for these jobs. Paying up front for this kind of information keeps a lot of people from getting these jobs, or lots of people pay money they can't afford to lose, and then lose it to scams. This would be a real turn around for us. I'd love to know if anyone here is currently doing these kind of jobs now? and if they would be willing to help the rest of us? Thanks one and all.

Every data entry work at home job I have tried online has been a scam , so if you do make a list make a legitimate one because I for one am sick and tired of being ripped off by all these so called data entry jobs. The last one I tried sent me to join Web colleagues which was… you guessed it just another scam they said if I was not satisfied they would refund my money , just email them and let them know , so I did , and they refuse to answer my emails , so I will not join another data entry job unless it's free to join! Oh yeah and Mr. Work at home I have not found a legitimate work at home job through you either , I truly believe that if it is a real work at home job then I should not have to pay them so I can do the work , there is no logical reason for that what so ever. My friend who is a Lawyer feels the same way.

Hi, Paul,

I am now on a sabbatical leave here in the Philippines after having lived in the US for more than 30 years. I appreciate
what you're intending to do and you can make a difference in peoples' lives by showing them legitimate ways to make extra money without dealing with a Boss!

You're absolutely correct that a lot of Multinationals are
outsourcing their programs outside the US for sheer economic
considerations, such, Call Centers, Medical Transcripts, Data enty, just to name a few. Even here in the Philippines, we have been affected economically by China where companies are flocking in because of cheap labor and real estate.

On a positive note, having these outfits here in my country have been a blessing to a huge number of Filipinos, where only a handful of elite people (less than 5%) control the economy. Just to give you an example, a good friend of mine who happens to be an ordained Catholic priest works with the
poverty stricken section of Manila. People in that place live right next door to the dump sites and live off the filthy garbage.

My friend priest has been working with these impoverished
polulace for more than 20 years and tended his indigent flocks while ministering to their spiritual needs as well. The latest project Fr. Ben is concentrating on is sending some of the unwed mothers to Vocational school studying to be data entry clerks. So, he is able to provide employment to their families and empower them amidst all the crime in that poverty stricken section in Manila…. just imagine, your US version of a ghetto, but where people live peacefully with one another… thanks to this anointed Man of God!

I would love very much to do the same thing Fr. Beltran is
doing in his part of the country. I could travel all over the Philippines training people to do homebased business,
high tech or otherwise. If you can recommend legitimate
homebased business to me, I will appreciate it very much and between you and I, we can spread good will and encouragement to people here and all over the world, eventually.

The Internet is still the best thing that happened to our society, despite all the negative publicity we hear all over the Net. I commend you for your due diligence in monitoring the unscrupolous few that give homebased business a bad name. Let's keep our focus on our personal dream to be of service to our fellowmen.

God bless us all,

See you at the top!

Eveline

It really doesn't matter which form you put the list in. What is important is that these "data entry" companies are NOT what's typically out there: PPC advertising (filling out forms, ha,ha!) for Clickbank companies. Essentially being a paying advertiser for those rip-off artists.
Every "data entry" job I found so far turns out to be an advertising position where you end up paying through your nose and only get paid when you manage to sell the product.

Lisa
1:09 pm #

Finding a Data Entry Position that does not cost anything up front would be outstanding!!! I look at this way, when you go search for a job out in this world do you have to pay the company a fee up front to get the job? No!!! Therefore why pay for a position online? Also, if you're looking for a job that means most likely you have no income coming in so therefore you can't pay for work if you have no money.

Theresa
1:14 pm #

I say "yes" to both questions. I have been needing extra income and I currently have a full time job data entering and I like a lot. I have been with this job for a very long time. So with this in mind, I really love to spend time with my family on the weekends which brings me to data entering on the web at home but for other businesses. I do not want to start my own business. So in answer to your questions, I say yes I would appreciate it if you would generate some kind of a list.

Sue McAllister

Janice
1:52 pm #

I suppose it would be a great asset for some to have such a list created, especially for free. However, I have another concern. The last time I opened an email from the WorkAtHomeTruth newsletter, there was a link on the page regarding an article or information on legitimate home-based business offers vs. scams, and once I clicked that link and it took me to the website, which didn't seem to have anything to do with the info indicated in the link, I got a "an attempt to attack your computer was blocked" message, so I immediately logged out and cleaned my pc. It seems people cannot click on ANYthing online these days without risk of being hacked or scammed, even from the sites who claim they offer information on how to avoid such scams. I just wanted to bring it to your attention, and I apologize I cannot now recall what the link was. I am leary of utilizing ANY information anywhere online. It's sad. And back to the idea of the list of data entry jobs available, I would welcome both the webpage and the pdf file. Thanks!
