Google-Work-Home? No Thanks!

Hmm. Apparently the site Google-Work-Home didn’t get the memo about all the Google Money Tree complaints. Of course Google Money Tree was one of the companies that was targeted in a recent Federal Trade Commission Crackdown. And that’s the kind of site that Google-Work-Home seems to be promoting.

The Google-Work-Home site claims that “this job is perfect for Homemakers, actors, students, retired workers, or anyone else that wants to earn cash working from home.”

Did someone forget to tell you that making money by advertising on Google is NOT a job? It’s a business, silly Google-Work-Home.com!

Now, I have no problem with people learning how to make money using Google to make money. Obviously, that’s a smart thing to do and there ARE many LEGITIMATE products, including many on our Top 10 Recommended Home Businesses list that can teach you how to do that.

But you have to ask yourself how good some of those “trial offer” companies’ training can be if they have to resort to such desperate measures to sell you their products.

I also find it very strange that the Google-Work-Home site says “You will not need special training” but then you immediately offer me “step-by-step instructions”.

Ummm. If I don’t need special training then why do I need your “step-by-step instructions”? Shouldn’t I just be able to fall out of a tree and make money…say an “Internet Money Tree”? ;-)

In case you don’t know what the reference to “Internet Money Tree” is all about, it has to do with one of the names that the Google Money Tree site was going under – the one that the FTC recently filed an injunction against.

Unfortunately, there seems to be new Google Work from Home scams coming up daily even after the FTC crackdown on the “work from home with Google” scam sites.

While checking my credit card statement today I found a charge listed for resource net express. Never heard of them. Luckily I was able to find a phone number for them and called it. They had all my info name address etc. I have no idea what this was for. The fellow on the other end who by the way barely spoke english, told me that iwas being charged for services I requested. I have never requested any services from this place. I ,of course, was told they would immediately refund the charge. I should never have been charged in the first place. What is this company??

personally, when i c stuff like this, in sense that u can make big $ basically out of nothing, i ask myself: “if this is legit. why not EVERYONE is signing up?”

i believe that if it seems too good to be true is must be too good to be true.

thats why every single time i buy thing on internet i go to google.com and search multiple websites for comments…

after i read the comments from the website i posted above, i thought “now lets find the REAL comments” those comments sounded little too perfect and too positive.. i wasnt mistaking, obviously…

I’m not sure where it found the link, (copied and pasted)http://theusaweeklynews.com/e1/?t202id=23544&t202kw== but it was the Mary Stedman story I read. I thought, “Gee, work from home with Google? Much be safe, since it’s google.” But I also could hear alarm bells going off all over my head. So All I filled out was my name, email and phone number. (hopefully if they DO call my cell, I can tell them to go away) When I went to close the page where it was asking for my vitals (cc numbers and such) a pop up appeared urging my not to leave “just yet!!” I could chat with a “Live Agent!” for any questions I might have! So I closed the page anyway, with even MORE alarm bells going off. Then I did a search via Google, Work at home with google. and this site came up FIRST. After reading all the comments and really looking that the “article” I found, I saw that it was truly a scam. *sigh* oh well. they didn’t get anything from me, but my cell number, which I hope they don’t call.

Remember people, the only way you can make this kind of money that fast is doing things illegal, like selling drugs.

    Thanks for the site, Paul.

I just came across this site when I tried to find the information that was sent to me with sites and prices of working at home with google. Didnt know what it was, AND STILL DONT, but already signed up. They had urls on this email and the monthly costs for them. It said all I have to do is post web addresses on the internet. I was dumb enough to think that it would be advertising for them, not for my own business. One was only $9.99/month, so I thought, “what the heck”. Then I see this. Another dream down the drain. I am disabled and not able to work but from computer at home for just couple hours at a time. Now I cant find the information to try it or the information to cancel it. Can anyone help or give me advice. A phone number or a website to cancel this. And is there any way to find a job working on computer from home that isnt a damn scam?

My only question is:What is Google doing about this?I mean there name is being used by scammers.Shouldn’t they be doing something to warn people?

  12. casmir123 says:

What is Google doing about this? I would think they would like to inform people this is a scam. After all there name is being used to lure people into parting with their money.

  13. Tom508 says:

I was actually thinking about doing this also, but after i read this a went back to the website and to this link: http://brian.egooglecash.com/?t202id=81039&t202kw=work%20at%20home%20opportunities&gclid=CJS14PLFv5oCFQienAod6h-xqQ
which shows this man Brian and he explains his “whole story”, and I saw how obvious it actually was. If you go to this link you’ll notice that it doesn’t let you post comments do to “spam” and all of the names of the people posting comments are Michelle, Tim, Steve, larry, etc. And they have perfect grammer and no typos. and does anyone actually know what your supposed to do? All i heard was posting links on google or something like that, but what does that even mean?

  14. Travis says:

The Google logo shown doesn’t have a “trade mark” symbol after it nor does it have the correct color scheme. The real kicker is at the bottom it specifically says in fine print, “Not affiliated in any way with Google^TM”

  15. Candice says:

I got scammed like this before too, you will need to cancel your card and get another one you and can keep trying to call and see if you can get some of your money back. Hope this helps.

  18. Hi Denise,

There are places for both of those – although not always easy to find.

Here is the list of AGs and their contact information:

I work for a credit union, and I see this sort of thing everyday. As a account specialist for checking and savings, I will give all of you the same advice and info that I would give one of our members that call or come in, in regards to this very thing.
The only way to stop them from debiting your acct. is exactly as others have said…you are going to have to file a dispute through your bank/credit union, have the card that was used canceled/deactivated, and have a new one, with new number and exp date issued to you (this applies to debit and/or credit cards. If you did a electronic type transaction, such as E-check or gave them your checking acct number with routing number then you will have to have the acct closed as compromised, and open a new one with a whole new number.
And whatever you do…dont give your new info out to anything else like this.
This has happened to more people then you will ever realize, I see it everyday and I know from experience from helping the members at my credit union this is the only way to fix it.

By the way…does Google have a legit work at home program?

  20. Prissi says:

    one other thing…

daynerotis you said “i call my bank and told them they better get my money back”

Its not your banks fault you gave your acct/card info out. And in all actuality they dont have to “get your money back” Its a mistake you made not your bank, and banks/credit unions arent responsible when we personally give our card # out to scammers.
Of course most financial institutions will do what they can to help their customers/members work it all out, but they are not liable to “get your money back”.
So everybody should keep that in mind before calling their banks/credit unions and demanding that the financial institution fixes a mistake that the acct holder made.

  21. Google does sometimes have telecommuting positions.

The main jobs section is here:

I’ve seen telecommuting positions for Quality Raters and Test Engineers.

I called and got a very nasty man who said after you order that disk you have 7 days to cancel or you are charged $ 79.00 a month .I did not order it my 12 year old grandaughter did.I live on a monthly social security check and it caused my phone check to bounce and now i will have no phone untill I can pay next month. He did not care and said I was still liable for her because she had all my infomation which was in my desk.So BEWARE! Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you all know that we in Canada have been offered this “amazing” work at home offer, and after several attempts in researching, I knew in my gut that it was “too good to be true”. I did another seach today, and found this web site and just wanted to say thanks “Paul” for getting this going, keeping it going, and having the courage to post reliable/credible information for those of us that are struggling in this economy, and many of us without jobs that can’t afford to throw $$ to the sharks/scammers of life.

    All the best,
    Kitty in Calgary, AB

  27. Thanks Kitty and just another reminder to everyone that you can post questions about specific opportunities or telecommuting positions in the forum here:

Good Morning America interviewed a girl who supposedly was so successful & said it was a legit work at home! We never received any info & after 7 days they $69.00 out of our account. We had to change checking accts & a credit card. Said you can cancel anytime but there is no phone number & they didn’t respond to an email!

  31. Melanie says:

Question – Why is Niche Blitzkrieg listed as #1 Work at home site on this site and you (Paul Schlegel
owner of http://www.workathometruth.com) are listed as a testimonial on theirs? I think I get how this all works. It is all a bunch of connections from one site to another. And Kevin Riley is listed as a testimonial and he is the writer of one of the books listed for sale. Crazy how it all works!!!!

  32. My testimonial is there because I BELIEVE in the product. Would it be better for me to NOT give a testimonial for a product I believe in and then send people to some Google Cash Kit scam?

Also, once I go through the product, I try to get to know the PERSON behind the product to make sure he or she will treat people I send to them well and give them proper support.

Also, I want to make sure they don’t send the person some crappy promotion from some crappy product after I send them there. Sometimes a person will have created a great product, but after recommending it they’ll try to push some questionable product.

That’s why Michael also gets actively involved in answering
QUESTIONS people might have about his products before they even buy. You can see that in action here:

    Niche Affiliate Marketing Winner.

Networking and knowing WHO to trust is a huge piece of figuring out if the person’s product is good and if the person themselves is trustworthy.

If you’d rather deal with complete wildcard unknowns that’s your prerogative.

What I do is look at products from the standpoint of newbies – which is the overriding demographic of this site and then try to get to know the people behind the product.

I don’t like the idea of sending visitors from WorkAtHomeTruth on “blind dates” so to speak.

If you want to do the research yourself I have training in the forum about how to use tools to analyze sales letters from a more technical perspective. You can see that
    training here:

WorkAtHomeTruth.com/forum towards the bottom of the page.

I start with technical analysis first, then move on to reviewing the product and then to reviewing the “person”.

You’ll also notice that I pretty much NEVER suppress people’s opinions on the site – unless they are threatening to kill someone directly or something crazy like that.

So you’re point of view is welcome here.

    Thanks for posting.

By the way, if you’re more comfortable taking a look at a product I DON’T recommend and wouldn’t be seen giving a testimonial for you might take a look at this one:

I don’t recommend it, endorse it, and would NOT put my testimonial on the site. Good luck in your pursuit.

  35. Chris in TX says:

When it sounds too good to be true that is because it usually is a lie; even more reason to read the terms and conditions at the bottom of the offer.

  36. trina says:

OK… so i signed up for the google work from home site 3 days ago, $1.97 start up, 100% gaurentee, as seen on…. and now i find this site. after readin everyones blog here i got upset and went back to the “google” site. I reread everything and yep… they charge 89.95 after the initial 7 day trial. funny how your stuff doesn’t even come in the mail for 7-10 days. But, the google symbol was trademarked and the color scheme was the same, so is it still a scam? lucky i paid for the initial cost with a Visa gift card. word to the wise, when ordering off line I always use a gift card, available at your local bank. so maybe i got a lil lucky? still wanna know if it was gaurenteed by google since it was trademarked?

  37. Matt says:

You people are all idiots! Of course it’s a scam.

  38. Dale says:

For all those who think Google is scamming people: google is a legitimate company. It’s illegitimate posers who are ripping people off. If you look at the bottom of the sites offering quick cash, you will often see a close variation of this: “*Google™ does not endorse or sponsor this site and is in no way affiliated with (site name)”. If you don’t take the time to read it, you’ll miss it.

  39. mjernigan says:

Well! Guess I can stop looking forward to my start-up kit! Man, no matter what you try to do legit, there’s always a “crook” on the other side of the door. I really needed this to work! Seems like Google would step up and intervene some kind of way. Well, I guess they say it’s our problems and not theirs. We just have to be more careful! We should pray that these theives get caught.
Kept wondering why I never heard anything from “google”.
    Thanks guys,
    Peace-out!

  40. There have a bunch of companies using Google’s name without Google’s permission to sell all kinds of “Google Kits” that continue to get volumes of complaints.

Google recently BANNED advertising from advertising the Google Kits on Adwords – the Google Pay Per Click advertising platform.

Whether or not they’ll also pursue individual companies legally is unknown right now.

The FTC filed a request for injunction against some of the Google Kit companies back in July.

  42. Teresa says:

I requested information on Google work at home and was told that I must give my credit card number when someone contacted me after I filled out a form online. Luckily, I didn’t give in. I told her that I would be happy to send a money order or pay COD. of course, that would not do. So they lost out on the $1.95 plus the almost $80.00 that I would have been stuck with paying. Thanks for the heads up.

  43. Anonymous says:

actually it has nothing to do with Google. If you red the very very fine print, it state is you don’t cancel within 7 days you will be charged $72.00 per month until you cancel. Yes it stinks, yes these people are scum, BUT anytime it’s to good to be true, do a goole search and you can find the answer!
