My-Internet-Payday discussion
This is a discussion of My-Internet-Payday which appears to be the same product as Joel Comm's MyGooglePayday discussed here already.
6/1/2009 update: My-Internet-Payday has a message stating "My Internet Payday is Not Accepting New Members at this Time. Please check back in the future for openings."
I also noticed that a lot of the fake blog owners pulled My-Internet-Payday from their promotions well before My-Internet-Payday posted that message. That could be because they knew the offer was going to expire, it could be because InfoMedia specifically disallowed that form of promotion, or it could be for some totally different reason.
5/25/2009 update: This whole discussion of My-Internet-Payday seems to have turned into a discussion of how to cancel the course. If that's what you're looking for, there is plenty of information throughout the discussion on that and the direct link to their support desk that covers that is here:
http://support.infomediainc.com/index.php
Also note that when I say "improvements" it does NOT mean that's how I would like to see the order process in an ideal situation and it's my opinion based on past versions of the order process I've seen. But what you and I think individually doesn't mean anything as I try to explain in my 5/19/2009 post which I got a lot of flack for. Along with my 5/24/2009 reply to Annelie. Keep in mind that is a layperson's interpretation of only a partial piece of the FTCs material on clear and conspicuous disclosure – the experts in those matters are the Attorneys for the company's in question and the FTC attorneys.
The difficult part of that as Not Kevin (in my opinion one of the more substantive contributors to this aspect of the discussion) has pointed out is that there seem to sometimes be multiple forms of the order process going on simultaneously – I don't know if that's a temporary situation or not.
Hopefully eventually this discussion will get back on track at some point and allow people to give their feedback about the actual product, although I certainly do understand that what's been going on has value as well.
5/14/2009 update: Hackersafe logo issue has been fixed.
5/12/2009 important update: Enough has gone on here that I feel it's important to point out that My-Internet-Payday never made it into the recommended products list at WorkAtHomeTruth or the top 10 recommended home businesses list. I had planned to move into a full review of the product, but because of the feedback I've received about customer service for the product here I've decided to put that on hold.
4/27/2009 update: Even MORE improvements to the order process! The current disclosure on My-Internet-Payday site is now placed directly at the point of the order form which is good news. For some reason the HackerSafe logo snuck back on the page, but that was just probably an oversight that will be fixed soon.
4/17/2009 update: The My-Internet-Payday sales process has gone through a major overhaul and has implemented the following changes:
- The Hackersafe logo issues has been fixed.
- The text next to the asterisk now states: "This is a $1 Trial. After trial expires additional monthly fees apply see terms and conditions." (Note, you can find the terms and conditions at the bottom of the second page – the page on which you enter your payment details).
3/24/2009 update: BBB logo issue has been fixed
Again, it's a $1.00 trial offer which automatically converts into a $78.64/monthly fee at the end of the trial period in order to retain access to the membership. The cancelation procedures are spelled out in the Terms and Conditions found by clicking the Terms and Conditions link which tells you to:
"CAREFULLY READ AND AGREE TO THE TERMS BELOW BEFORE ORDERING:"
And then goes into the details on how the trial offer works.
Joel Comm has made significant contributions to the field of Adsense Education which is easy to see from the vast number of legitimate testimonials he has for his product The Adsense Code here. Those are REAL people giving REAL testimonials. And people like Alice Seba who is giving her testimonial there don't just hand out testimonials willy-nilly.
I still have some qualms which I feel obligated to point out since I am constantly telling the visitors to WorkAtHomeTruth to look for these kind of issues on sites, so I'd be remiss not to mention them.
I still am wondering why the HackerSafe logo is being used as I discussed in the write-up of the sales page for MyGooglePayday here.
3/24/2009 UPDATE: The issue with the BBB logo discussed in the following paragraphs been fixed and has been made clickable now.
3/24/2009 Start of original BBB information follows…(The following discussion of the BBB logo is no longer relevant but left in place for historical purposes).
I also don't understand why My-Internet-Payday.com doesn't have a live link from their BBB logo to their BBB confirmation page since the BBB Seal Program's outline in Wyoming and Northern Colorado tells consumers:
"You know a company is authorized to display either seal if it links to a BBB confirmation page. Always click on a BBB seal to confirm the company’s good standing with BBB."
Click here to read the full terms of the Wyoming and Northern Colorado seal program.
Certainly from a sales copy flow having a clickable logo would give up the control. On the other hand, if a site isn't using the logo as it's designed to be used I would think it could possibly have a NEGATIVE effect on credibility…although ironically the BBB themselves has NO Terms of use on their site as I'm writing this…click here for the Wyoming and Northing Colorado "Terms of Use"…NOT! (Note, they may have them up by the time you read this).
3/24/2009 End of the original BBB discussion (no longer relevant but left in place for historical purposes).
The bottom line is that based on my experience with some of Joel Comm's previous information, it's probably very good educational material, but I have NOT specifically reviewed the My-Internet-Payday course – which apparently is also known as MyGooglePayday.
As mentioned in the discussion of MyGooglePayday, you may want to pick up a copy of The Adsense Code BOOK first – although certain a 7-day trial should be sufficient time for you to decide if the My-Internet-Payday product is right for you.
You can grab a copy of the Adsense Code from Amazon on-the-cheap here.
Note: I should point out that Joel Comm has stated back on 2/27/2009 in the MyGooglePayday comments section here in that "We recently learned that Hackersafe is no longer active and are switching to McAfee as soon as we can get it running." So I would assume we'll see that switchover pretty soon, although I still don't 100% understand that statement, because I thought that the "switchover" was done automatically for Hackersafe users, but it's possible I'm wrong about that.
Click here to read about the change from Hackersafe to McAfee secure.

Here are some the sites (NOTE: These people's Adsense Revenue sites may be DIFFERENT) of the people giving the testimonials so you can confirm these are REAL people with established, professional sites:

Of course there are many more testimonials, but those are some of the better known authors and sites.

I subscribed to Joel Comms "My google payday" and half the links in week one were inoperable when discussion how to create offsite links and then I just got completely cut off the program when I had not signed in for four days as I was about to tackle week three of the program. I tried to link to the BBB as well and that did not work.
5:51 pm
Michael,
Did you try to get that issue resolved with Joel Comm's customer service department?
Also, I didn't quite understand your comment:
"I tried to link to the BBB as well and that did not work".
What does that mean?
7:11 pm
So is that site of My Internet PayDay another scam?
7:26 pm
No Luz,
That's what I'm trying to get across. Even though it LOOKS like a lot of the other sites people have complained about, based on my experience of Joel Comm's information in the past, the quality of the information is likely very good.
But I can't endorse My-Internet-Payday 100% because I haven't seen the specific content.
However, I ALSO wanted to make sure people understood how the monthly charges work after the trial period as I've seen people have issues with that on other offers/products.
12:21 am
Thanks for your site. While the terms are in the fine print, to me this borders on false advertising.
1:04 pm
Calling all international users who have got caught with Joel's $1 scam !!
Of course most of us cannot reach that number and to not have a vaild email service to allow members to cancel, but he does have an email service to get you to join is criminal but I found a way that allows you to call them from Australia for free
I have an iPhone…if you grab the app called "Fring" and use the service on Fring called "SIP" it will let you dial American/USA toll free numbers just like you were on a normal phone in the USA…great…
now all I have to do is sit up until 4 in the morning.. I should be nice & happy by then so this should be a pleasant cancellation of a service…
NOT….
not happy Jan….or Joel…or whoever you are…obviously going broke if your having to resort to scams to make your claimed squillions of dollars a month….
6:30 am
Nick,
The trial offer is completely legitimate and my office is entirely reachable by either telephone or email.
You can call us at 970-278-0011 or open a ticket at http://www.thehelpdesk.us
Any voicemails left or tickets opened during the trial period will be honored as you would expect.
Joel
P.S. – we've put together a ton of content in the member's area. I would hope that you have taken the opportunity to absorb it.
7:56 am
So why is http://www.thehelpdesk.us not on your website or contact us page?
I do admit the information in the 7 day trial is good information, spot on and if I had the spare $78 i would stay on. It's really sad that the miss representation is there with the joining fee.
if it was made crystal clear from word go, I would actually be recommending your program by word of mouth which you would understand to be invaluable.
I have emailed the website above and yesterday sent an email to the address that confirmed my payday membership (not posted on here for spam reasons).
I expect that the membership will be canceled within 48 hours, if not I'll make plenty of noise.
Nick.
1:44 pm
I am the same as Nick. i have tried calling and got a no service response. I have emailed a ticket as you will to you help desk and expect to be removed from you credit card and emailing lists within 48 hours as well as i was joined up to the program by someone unauthorised for my accounts.

7:28 pm
Nick,
But the terms are listed there with the appropriate use of the asterisks right below the order button. I don't think he needs to have it say that you'll be charged $78 bucks right there. The asterisks let's us know we need to look and find what the page is referring to.
This is taken right off the BBB:
"The asterisk or other reference symbol should not be used as a means of contradicting or substantially changing the meaning of any advertising statement. Information referenced by asterisks should be clearly and prominently disclosed."
I don't think the asterisks would be used to initially deceive people. The web designer probably just ran out of room to put "you'll be charged a recurring fee of $78 on your free trial", instead.
So it's easier to put the "* Additional Terms Apply" and then we know enough to go find the terms the asterisks is referring to. Plus, the phrase "* Additional Terms Apply" is clickable as well – so that makes it OK.
Hope this helps!
-Jimmy
8:30 pm
I agree that I think Joel is scaming for more money and deceiving us by not making it clear as to the additional money it will cost after the 'trial'; and making it hard to cancel. I am looking to subsidise my income and I can not afford to pay money to earn money. Even if I like his concept, all that goes down the drain when Joel cons people. He is rich enough, he can afford to add a few more sentence to his ad to make it truely legit. He fail on that, and on that note I will cancel on his program immediately. He is NOT HONEST enough for me. If he is not doing it correctly and being honest up front, to me this is a scam.
5:06 am
I came across a link to Joel's webpage while looking at another site.
I have no credit card and so wrote down the toll-free number to call about ordering by mail. When I called the number, I discovered that I can't reach it from my area. So, I came back online to find out how else I could contact them and came across this site when I entered the URL. I'm glad I did because now I'm not so sure I'm interested any more.
6:11 pm
heheh the number on their cancelation line hangs up on u after one ring if anyone is interested. tried 5 times in a row to confirm lolz scammers are sad ppl
10:20 pm
so basically it is a scam and that people have to pay $70bucks every month? that sucks…
11:56 pm
Hi,
I also try to cancel the trial during the 7 day and can't reach the customer support number, or the one listed by Joel here.
I tried to open an account on http://thehelpdesk.us but the confirmation email never came to me.
Not sure what to do, I still have 4 days left until the 7 days expires.
I tried to call also from VOIPRaider but the same result.
Lucian
12:05 am
Forgot to mention, I'm from Canada.
About the My Internet Pay Day content – it is very good. I knew there will be some monthly charges, but I did not see these listed until today. Can't afford that for now.
Thanks,
Lucian
12:53 am
Jimmy,
Where did you find that information about the use of the asterisk on the BBB website? I haven't been able to find that.
12:56 am
Never mind, Jimmy. Just found it here.
Hmmm. I'm not sure what to think of that actually.
That's an interesting page. I'm surprised I've never run across it before.
1:08 am
I don't know. I'm definitely torn here.
I know that if I did a trial offer I would have done it differently – probably put the specific terms directly above the order form.
On the other hand there's no question that Joel Comm's knowledge and content is excellent. Even the people who have posted about the billing have mentioned how good the content is.
I think sometimes the affiliate networks put pressure on the product owners to set up their offers in certain ways.
7:35 pm
Hi Everyone
SCAM….I FEEL
I cannot contact anyone as above the number goes dead the other number is engaged all the time the support desk…no email back
I loved the first week INFO Layout everything good information etc but i would have paid the full amount and had the 13weeks all at once but this is horrible
I cant do anything cant google pull these sites?
7:54 pm
I tried to register 4 times to thehelpdesk.us and I never got the confirmation email… The phone number are inaccesible also…
Joel or someone from your team, if you see this, please let me know how can we get hold of your customer support. I need to cancel my subscription before sunday when the 7 day trial expires.
Thanks,
Lucian
8:05 pm
Good news. I used VOIPRaider to call 1-970-278-0011 and finally someone answered and I cancelled my membership.
Perhaps they have too many people calling and the line was busy all the time.
I am glad that it was solved.
Lucian
5:30 am
If the trouble with getting through were because of too many people phoning, the line would sound a busy signal. I got no busy signal, but a recording saying that the number is inaccessible from my area. Others that have written to this blog say that they received no answer. There's something else going on that doesn't seem as innocent as you're willing to grant Lucien. I still say I'm glad I didn't get through by phone and found this blog before I managed to sign up.
Victor.
6:01 am
Hi Victor,
Yes, I got the same thing as you, "out of area" for the Support phone number listed on the website (1-888-210-9941)
The number that worked for me was 1-970-278-0011, this one is listed above by Joel and I also found it in one emails from them after signup. Yesterday this number did not have the busy signal, it just ringed once and disconnected. Today it worked on my first try, but I did use VOIP instead the regular phone.
I was frustrated and concerned that I will not be able to cancel before the end of the trial version. And yes, the monthly payments are not very visible on the site when you first get the trial version.
I would not recommend this site to other people.
Here is another thing that I noticed — there are some advertising on the facebook for a Google Cash program. These websites have the same pictures and content, and claim the same things, just the website owner's name is different and they show like it is from your local area. So they fake that to make you think that someone else "close" to you (as in the same city) was able to do that, then why not you give it a try! I found these after I signed up with a link to "My internet payday" coming from a site like this.
So I'd say – don't go for it.
Lucian
6:05 am
Victor,
I just checked this site which lists calling codes and international calling codes.
Perhaps you have to dial 011+1+number?
6:15 am
Lucian,
Sounds like the sites I posted about here back on December 13, 2008 (i posted a list of nearly 500 in the comments section).
6:17 am
Paul,
That could be the case as I'm in Canada, but frankly, I agree with Lucian and I'm not going for it. That's why I said I'm glad I came across this blog before I managed to find a successful way to sign up.
6:29 am
Here are 2 examples:
http://coreyhasmoney.com/
http://www.dangetsgreen.com/
Look at the content. Those 2 have different names and pictures, but they have the same story:
"A year ago I was an account manager for a (drum roll) a pipe manufacturing company. Not exactly what I dreamed of when I was growing up. The job I had before that, I used to work in at a mortgage company."
Look also at the comments, almost same persons, same comments. And at the bottom it says "Leave a Reply. — Comments disabled due to spam." As otherwise people will have something to say to those sites…
And the thing that I talked about is adding links on Google, but when you click on that "Google Cash Starter Kit", it goes to My Internet Pay Day, which has tutorials about how to use Google services…
Perhaps Joel changed his program or something. The content inside is good, video tutorials, e-books etc. But the way you get to it or to get out of this system is not something you can trust.
Be aware, anyway.
Lucian
8:54 am
Paul,
Thank you for creating this site! It is useful for people to get an advised opinion on different work at home programs.
Lucian
8:59 am
Lucian,
Those sites you referenced have promoted all sort of products for months now – they just keep switching out the products they are promoting.
Did you see my previous comment about those sites? I posted about those kind of sites back on December 13, 2008 here.
4:05 pm
I never saw monthly membership fee!
now im trying to get out of this membership and i cant get through to any of the numbers! either out of area or it just automatically disconnects!!
8:52 pm
It was nearly impossible to reach anyone at customer service and when I finally did, they were uninformed and very rude. No response to 5+ emails either. Smells like scammers to me.
8:58 pm
Jim how long was the time between you emailing them and waiting for a response? Did they send any sort of autoresponse confirming they got your email?
What's going on here really doesn't remind me of the Joel Comm I'm familiar with. I have to admit that I'm surprised by some of the comments that are getting posted here, although I will say that I've seen these types of comments on OTHER negative option marketing products in the past. But usually those companies were intentially trying to avoid cancelations and refunds which I'm sure isn't what's going on here. I think maybe the volume has been too much for them or maybe they need to add how to call their customer service company from the various countries they're marketing in.
Again, I would have disclosed the terms differently myself, but that's just me. Also it looks like they added another disclosure statement on the second step of the process now. I'd have to go back and look at the original one to verify that.
9:20 pm
TWO asterisks? LOL. Come on guys, how many freaking asterisks do you need? Sheesh.
I mean I found the terms in just under 5 seconds the first time on the page and it took only one asterisks to spot it.
-Jimmy
3:30 am
Im pissed my son signed up for this thinking it was $1 used my credit card without telling me i found out 7 days later after i had been slugged the $78 after 5 days i want my money back and you need to be contactable by email you contacts are rediculous
7:23 am
I have received a confirmation email from Infomedia, confirming my account cancellation.
That's more like it !! Now it's starting to look more like a service you would expect from a reputable internet information trader.
Now all Joel needs is the monthly fee's up front not hidden, and also the links to the cancel service up front & not hidden and all would be well.
I definitely cannot recommend it to anyone in this state.
That goes for the new service that has been advertised to me in the cancellation email also "Twitter"
Thank you for honoring my cancellation.
Nick.
8:03 am
Are you guy's sure this is not just "Google Money Tree" re-wrapped into another name. Is Joel also behind "Google Money Tree" ??
9:24 am
I would SERIOUSLY doubt Joel has anything to do with Google Money Tree which I wrote about here.
3:09 pm
I was set up and running within 30 minutes and the results are in. My revenue in my first 30 days was $1,800.83 – more than enough to cover my mortgage payment! The next 30 days brought in over $2,200 straight from Google.”
- M. Quick
“Joel saved my business with a fraction of the insight found in this eBook.”
- Chris Pirillo, Tech TV Host
“I've been using Joel's techniques and now I'm watching my clicks and earnings go to levels I never thought possible.”
- Bob Rankin, Internet Pioneer
“I spent a couple hours implementing your suggestions and BAM — I have been making an extra $50 per day since. I can't believe I allowed myself to just leave that money sitting on the table.”
- Alice Seba, AliceSeba.com
10:49 pm
Joey, so wat exactly is Joel all about. I haven't workd since 06' & am in need of a job. I just don't want to do something that leads no where. What exactly does Joel give in his trial? I am so tired of being screwd I really need something that is gona get me out of debt.
5:37 am
I'm not far from the same boat as Lucy. I've worked contract projects periodically since being laid off in 2008 and all it will take is a dry stretch of a couple of months to sink me. I could use a legit venture such as Joel promises, but am leery of things that sound too good to be true.
4:11 pm
I just tried to cancel my subscription and I reached the
customer support line without a problem.. I was told that there was nothing to cancel as they had no iformation ie.. no credit card info or anything else just my name and email. I hope I don't get charged and they say they have no record of my calling to cancel. Will let you know if I have any trouble.
11:48 pm
Just cancel your credit card as if it was stolen and they will not be able to use it again.
hahahaha
1:54 am
Deborah,
you would have had to give your credit card information to pay the $1 fee !
3:51 pm
I've been in the program for three weeks and the content is great, I have to conciously try to keep on schedule due to the amount of content. It's more than worth the $78…
11:53 am
I don't think a single person here said that the content was not great, from the looks of the above posts i would go as far as saying that Joel appears to have an excellent reputation and a number of people were disappointed that there were these 'mistakes' on his Internet Pay Day product.
I even went as far as saying I would come back myself despite the hiccup ! I am more disappointed I don't have the cash to continue at the moment.
11:11 pm
No response to tickets submitted so tried the number Joel left on this site, got through straight away and very helpful staff confirmed no money had been deducted from my card, closed my account and said they would e-mail me confirmation. I agree that the content seems worthwhile and I will certainly try to re-sign when I can afford it
4:04 am
I agree with Nick. No one has questioned the content of the material. Hell, I haven't even seen it yet because I don't have a credit card and didn't get through to the toll-free line. Since finding this blog I haven't tried again. But, even if it's a great system, no system is a perfect fit for everyone. Some will find it a perfect fit, others will find it a less than perfect fit, but still worth the effort and others will find it doesn't fit them at all. And if it's not a fit, you need to be able to withdraw. Course I haven't even gotten in yet and haven't made up my mind whether to or not.
4:20 pm
I can see this blog already has a pretty staunch position FOR the program, but I'd like to add my name to the list of people who got scammed by these people.
I signed in for the initial $1. Went through the first week's material.
Two weeks later I realized I hadn't gotten anything further. So I went to the site. And it was gone.
(went from mygooglepayday to myinternetpayday.com)
There was no redirect. I had to dig to find another site, which SEEMED to be right.
Called customer service, who refused to offer any sort of refund on the $79 they charged after the first week. Wouldn't even consider a partial refund.
Okay, I know that TECHNICALLY, they didn't violate any law. There IS a TOS that explained this. But they were crafty about hiding it; they moved their damn site without any notice to me; they gave a WEEK trial when a MONTH trial is far more common… because they know people can easily lose track after a week and get screwed.
Illegal? No. Highly unscrupulous? Yes. I will warn everyone to stay away from this and Joel Comm.
5:55 pm
Grae,
I'd say that most of the people are saying that the content was good, but did NOT like the way the offer was presented.
As I mentioned above, I would have liked to see the discloure of the terms ABOVE the order form where the credit card is entered. I just saw another trial offer (the URL is escaping me right now) that I thought did a good job that put the disclosure of the monthly charges in a box that was highlighted in pink wich drew the eye to the terms of the monthly charges.
Also, Michael Brown just set one up where NO CREDIT CARD is required to get access to the first 14 training videos and if the person likes the training they can upgrade for just a small ONE-TIME fee (currently $67) and get acess to all the training videos and discussion forum.
That one's at
http://www.affiliatemoneyrevolution.net/go/FreeTrial
6:14 pm
scamming [edited]a**holes[end edit] with no compassion for humans who make mistakes and think that someone is really trying to offer truly "risk free" trial
4:51 pm
I'm confused, what is so hard to understand about a 1 Week Trial? The trial offer concept is used by 1000's of companies, major corporations, infomercials.. You try it for free, for price of shipping, for $1 etc.. they direct you to the terms and then they bill you after the trial.
What planet are the people from who don't know this?
8:15 pm
LOL. I hear you Brian. How big does the guy have to make his asterisks? What a bunch of losers, this is getting dumb. Start reading and learn what an asterisks is used for or don't order anything ever again period. I really wish you could see me smacking myself on the forehead right now. Kudos Brian!
8:22 pm
LOL. Man, now people are even pretending that their kids used their credit cards "without their permission". Give me a break! The only reason I came hear is to read all the crazy crap people say. I completely skipped over that post the first time around!
6:03 am
From what I've seen written here, people are not complaining because they don't understand the concept of a 'free trial'. They're complaining because of difficulty contact the company once they've had the free trial and wish to cancel out. The same problem has occurred in the past with mail-order book clubs that offer 'sample freebies' and then it's frustratingly difficult to stop the books from coming in the mail after the freebie arrives.
2:37 pm
I am learning so much with this program, I was looking for other people in the program when I came across this site. I see all the complaints but I have been happy with the product and called 3 times getting through easily everytime.
3:42 pm
OK, so help me out..do you guys like this program or not???I am looking for a way to make more money and you all did a great job in confusing the hell out of me. Should I sign up for it or is a scam???
Someone please be honest with me…I have been scammed enough just trying to up my income.
Thanks
2:25 am
Jasmine- Let me ask you. Do you really make enough money to cover the $78 dollars a month it cost you??
2:35 am
Are you a real person or a bait???
2:50 am
Wen,
It seems that most of the people posting here liked the materials but didn't like the way the offer was done.
I haven't viewed these materials explicitly, but I've read other material from Joel that was very good.
My recommendation for people is usually to start with something that doesn't have a monthly fee but DOES have an active help forum.
The reason I recommend that is that:
1) Almost everyone gets stuck at some point in a course/training and having an active help forum can help you get unstuck much faster than if you're going it alone (assuming the forum is well-controlled by a central authority on the subject).
2) If you're going to pay for a membership you should have a better sense of what you need to get out of that membership – which most people new to online marketing don't know.
Monthly fees will be less of an issue if you have a PLAN such that you're confident that the material you're paying for supports your plan.
I've paid as much as $797/month for a business training membership (Stompernet), but it made sense for me to do that because I already knew enough to be able to take advantage of the training. That kind of outlay probably would NOT make sense for you.
3:39 am
Am I a what?? I am just looking for something to help with my income and get my ass out of debt, like everyone else here. I think I am going to stuck to what I know is true…You don't pay money to make money.

Wen,
I think Punky Purples comment was directed at Jasmine. It's not really clear who that comment was meant for.
You certainly CAN pay money to make money, but I'm just saying that you want to do it cautiously.
I've bought around $300,000 in advertising over the years, but I would NEVER suggest ANYONE start by doing that. Start with free or low-cost information and make sure you have a good help forum.
5:10 am
Personally, it doesn't matter to me who Punky Purple directed his comment toward, it's a legitimate comment. A vendor that's selling a product and becomes aware that someone created a forum for discussing the product would naturally want to ensure that the forum generates good press for the product. He might then take action to nudge the discussion in the direction he'd like it to go. We have no ready way of knowing who's at the other end of each comment posted here. But, as Paul says, most of the comments have been favourable to the product, just not particularly of the way the marketing was set up. At any rate, I took the advice at the top to heart and bought "The Adsense Code". I haven't cracked th book yet, but I'll see what it's got to say.

Victor,

Also, I recently remembered
6:18 am
Victor,
I think that was a good move to get the book.
Do you already know how to build sites and generate traffic? If not I can point you to some free training for that for you to start with. Actually, I typically suggest people pick up Dan Thies' free eBook at SEOFastStart.com anyhow.
I did notice that the BBB logo is now clickable. And I've updated the post to reflect that.
The Hackersafe logo is still an issue but Joel posted the following in the previous discussion of MyGooglePayday (which is now My-Internet-Payday):
"We recently learned that Hackersafe is no longer active and are switching to McAfee as soon as we can get it running."
He posted that on February 26th, so I assume that should be fixed any day.
Also, I recently remembered this discussion from a while back at Michael Fortin's site where Joel Comm and Matt Bacak were getting some sort of flack, but I don't really know the full details of all of that. And I don't know anything at all about Matt Bacak.
Also, I never saw how their offers were presented though so I don't know how the offers were presented.
I did see one of Matt Bacak's recent offers though which I thought did a good job of disclosing the terms of the offer (he had the terms of the offer highlighted in a pink box right NEXT to the form where personal details and the credit card details are entered).
I just still am not crazy about using the asterisk to disclose the terms of the offer the way it's currently being done on My-Internet-Payday. But again that's just my personal preference.
This isn't likely to

So, has anybody who does NOT like this site made any real money? even $1? Or does it not work at all? Remember if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
6:30 am
Paul,
I've attended a couple of workshops where we were shown how to set up websites and I work on a Mac. Mac includes templates for setting up websites, but I've never done so. I'd appreciate the info about the training you mentioned. I'll have a look at SEOFastStart.com as well.
Thanks.

Victor,
The site EricsTips.com has extensive free video training on running an online business and some of the videos cover site-building. You can either sign up for the newsletter to get on a "reminder list" for the lessons or you can go through them like this:
http://www.ericstips.com/tips/lesson1/
http://www.ericstips.com/tips/lesson2/
http://www.ericstips.com/tips/lesson3/
Just keep appending the number.
Last I checked there were 37 videos total although it says on the first lesson:
"# In approximately 120 lessons, I’m going to show you how to build an online business from ‘A’ to ‘Z’. If you’re an experienced internet marketer, please bear with me through the basics, because I’ll be sharing all of my advanced techniques too."
There are also 14 free videos at:
http://www.affiliatemoneyrevolution.net/go/FreeTrial
(NO credit card needed for the trial there)
So if you combine:
* EricsTips
* SeoFastStart
* AffiliateMoneyRevolution
* The Adsense Code book
You really have everything you need to get off the ground running.
You might want to join a couple free forums if you haven't just in case you get stuck. WarriorForum.com is free as is SelfStartersWeeklyTips.com
There's also an inexpensive upgrade option for AffiliateMoneyRevolution.net
And of course there's also Joel's AdsenseChat forum.

I see all these people asking "are you making $78 per month" or "are you even making more than it costs". I have this to say, if you think you are going to learn a tradeskill and start making money with it working like 1 hour a week for a few weeks then you are sorrily mistaken.
Everything in this world takes work….there are no push button money systems but there are systems that can make you money if you actually put forth some effort and take the time to learn.
People work their entire careers to master the techniques taught in programs like these and 80% of the people that buy in get mad because they aren't making money after a whole week of using the system and an hour of total work.
If you wwant to earn then put forth some effort in the same way that you would if you had to get an additional traditional job.
Laughable….
9:43 pm
To follow up on what Jakester just posted, I'll add the following to this discussion:
Q: Is the training offered by this course correct?
A: I can just just about guarantee you that the course IS correct. In other words if you took action you would be taking action on correct information.
Q: Will you make money if you use this course?
A: Nobody can answer that question. It's an unanswerable question because there are so many factors such as your ability to learn, your work ethic, your tolerance for risk, etc.
Q: What's the advantage of learning from this course versus some other course.
A: Again, an unanswerable question. But part of the answer certainly has to do with whether Joel Comm's teaching style matches how you best learn.
And another part has to do with if the type of business that he teaches is the right type of business for you.
And I guess that it goes without saying that there are a lot of people who weren't happy with how the offer for the course was presented (myself included) – and that might be an issue for them.
12:47 am
I signed up to do this and now I cant find where ther training is I made the mistake of not writing it down and u cant access it from the website just a sign up page again
7:41 am
I have also been scammed by this. I am from Australia. I signed up for the $1 ebook and got charged $114. I have sent multiple tickets to them with no response. I Have also unsubscribed but have no response. I have also emailed their support address and also no response. I am pertified that I will be charged each month now. HELPPPP.
There was no mention of this reoccurring charge when I gave my credit card. I have reported this to the fraud area of my bank yet nothing can happen until this company responds to me.
Joel – or anyone from your company – if you see this please tell me how I can cancel my membership IMMEDIATELY.
8:18 am
Amanda,
I'm not sure about in Australia, but in the U.S. you usually just have to show that you tried to work it out with the merchant directly before you file a dispute.
Are you sure you have to wait for the merchant to respond?
9:01 am
Hi
In Australia I am unable to stop the direct debit from my acct each month – the merchant must do this so unless they respond to me I will have to continue to pay and I only wanted to pay $1 so I have already been charged an additional $114 AUD. I am very angry about this. I have sent 4 tickets and emailed twice – all over the last 4 days. No response at all. I will have to be up at 3am in the morning to contact them by phone. I wish they would respond.
9:11 am
Amanda, I too am from Australia and it's really not that hard to get in touch with them. I couldn't afford to continue and cancelled very simply by calling:
0011-1-970-278-001 bear in mind the time diference and make the call between around 8.00 and 9.00am Aus time. As for the e-book I'm afraid I thought the site was pretty clear that the $1.00 fee was for the online trial and training.
9:24 pm
Amanda, you don't have to stay up at all, I called at 8.00am and had no problem you should be able to get them any time up to about 10am, they will give you a cacellation confirmation number so if anything gets taken from your credit card after that you have a traceable complaint.
9:33 pm
Hi Sue – thankyou for that – I got up nice and early today and called and cancelled. I did question them on their ticketing system and he told me that even though its part of their website that they have nothing to do with it so for anyone else out there – dont submit a ticket, call!
12:17 am
This a complet joke
12:50 am
Smitty,
I think you forgot to finish the word "complete".
8:37 am
How do u cancel this, I have tried to do it but it is not working for me.
11:58 am
worstttttttt scammmmmm ever do nottt commit to it gives u a head ache got to call them tomorrow im gonna tell them offf
8:29 pm
Well I saw a banner for this page: http://www.marysmoneyblog.com. Looked at it and saw all those "genuine" people with all those checks so I was curious what this was about…
Google is a free service, they don't charge you for anything. When someone offers some "trick" to make google pay you $170+ an hour it sounds like a scam. Sure you can make money with google but you have to put time and effort into it.
This guy is making big money by convincing people to sign up to his "program." If he was making so much money off google then why would he want to create all this competition for himself?
There is no "free money." On google you either advertise and pay when people click on your links (This is called AdWords)or you get paid when you post ads on sites and people click on them. (This is called AdSense). Look here: http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/ads/ads_1.html.
So sure you can make money from google if you have pages with content that people come to and click on your links but you need worthwhile content for people to come. If you host a lot of pages and have a lot of traffic, sure you might make some money, but you do have to do work to get there…
But this guy's trick is to prey on people's dreams that they can make money for almost nothing. So he provides a lot of "genuine looking" testimonials by people who supposedly could quit their jobs by "posting some links".
These scams involve posting so much text so you would waste a lot of time reading about how rich you are going to get but obviously avoid telling you exactly how it all works. Well that's because it just doesn't work. The only thing that works is that you pay like $1 for the trial and then good luck trying to cancel it. In fact if even 90% of the orders get cancelled, then he still has 10% which don't. Now if he gets 1000 people signing up and 100 remain paying $78 a month, that's a cool $7,800 a month. Not bad for posting some really genuine looking testimonials. Is it that hard to get some friends to help you if you offer to give them a couple hundred $ for the photo and testimonial?
Remember people: You can't make something from nothing. As you can see what happened to the economy when these mortgage lenders tried to make something from nothing. Sure the scammers make off with a bunch of money but the average Joe just ends up losing some cash. If you're a scammer then sure these scams might work for you, but if you're a honest person you won't try to make money by scamming people….

Interesting reading, im a student and studying full time to be an airline pilot with a massive student loan and not enough time to work, almost could have handed that credit card number over without thinking, thank god I did.
The crux of the story here is, NO ONE has proof they are making all this easy money within 72hours. Sure some of the content might be good, but in New Zealand its 100% misleading and false advertising, I would like to hear googles take on this as well as im assuming thats where the money is coming from?
Too good to be true? It always is.
10:43 am
Have any of you noticed that the page asking for your credit card information is NOT an "HTTPS" (Emphasis on "S" for "Secure"???
I wouldn't begin to consider the possibilty of considering the possiblity of considering or reckoning that I could possibly be silly enough to consider the possibilty of considering that I might decide to submit my credit card information on a page that's NOT SECURE (non HTTP"S")… Need I say more?
1:23 pm
Hi all
I personally feel cheated by the offer handed out by Joel Comm on 'myinternetpayday.com'. I've got no money and was looking to help my income and thought that this programme may have been the solution I was after. Unbeknowns to me, apparently it will now cost me 78 dollars a month, and thats money I just don't have!
And now like many of the other bloggers here I cant contact anyone from his company (using the numbers provided on the website or above) to cancel my account! Ive emailed 2 tickets to his support website 'support.infomediainc.com' and yep you guessed it nothing in return there either! I hope someone from his company sees this and finally makes contact with me to confirm the cancellation of my direct debit account from this scam of a website! Please help….
Scott
10:41 pm
Hi Scott
I am from Australia…and as I have mentioned previously after numerous tickets (which dont work!) I did manage to have someone answer the phone and they cancelled my membership – a membership which I had no idea I had signed up for. I challenged the person on that and also questioned the ticket system, both of which he could not answer. Typical. I am hoping this month's money does not come out of my account – so I am waiting.and watching…My bank is following it up though too so lets see if these people get their justice.!
7:53 am
Hi Amanda
Im an Aussie too, Im in the exact same boat as you. I had no idea that I had signed up to anything! Im extremely irate at what has happened and at the fact that I can not contact them at all to cancel my account, and also that they dont seem to have the common decentcy to get in contact with me after Ive been trying all this time! What was the number you got through on? I think Im going to have to call the police if I have no luck soon!
Scott
8:13 am
Scott,
Did you try dialing:
0011-1-970-278-001
That's how other's from Australia have called in the past.
3:05 pm
Everyone
To anyone in Australia who has had the same trouble as I have had with 'my internet payday' by Joel Comm and been scammed into having to pay seventy something dollars a month into something that was only supposed to cost one dollar, I have some news for you.
The number to call from Australia to cancel your subscription is 001119702780011. Hope this saves someone from getting into trouble.
Scott
5:44 pm
Hello Everyone,
I just canceled my account. Here is the info from the fine print where we signned up…
"Google Money System". For questions, call 1-800-309-6980 Mon-Sat, 9am-9pm, EST.
6:02 pm
Phil,
I think that's a completely different product, actually.
The contact information for My-Internet-Payday.com is
on this page:
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=terms
Which lists the following contact information:
"If you find My Internet Payday is not right for you, simply contact our Customer Service Department to cancel your membership within 7 days of your purchase date and you will not be charged any additional fees. To cancel within your 7 day trial period please call 1 (786) 866-9353 or Toll Free 1 (888) 210-9941 during regular business hours."
2:08 am
Hi, This is my 2nd day of the 7 day trial. Does anyone know how long does the entire course last? Is it 13 weeks?
If so, will my membership automatically be canceled after the course ends which means thereafter they wont be deducting the monthly fee of $78.64 from account?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
2:41 am
As far as i can tell the card would keep getting charged until you cancel. In the Terms and Conditions it says:
"Approximately 7 days from your original purchase date and every 30 days thereafter your credit card on file will be billed $78.64, this will ensure access to the program at all times."
4:15 am
Thx for the reply. So is there really no way to cancel by email or through any other online mediums? Bcos it's really not very convenient for me to call their department from Singapore just to cancel a membership.
Found this email Joey@infomediainc.com from the infomedia web site. Dont know whether it will confirm my cancellation if I email to this add.
But for now, I plan to try out for the first month to see if the course is right for me. I just hope when the decision to cancel calls, it won't be a big hassle.
4:22 am
You're right, Alvin. I don't see any email contact informationo posted on their site.
At one point Joel Comm posted that they could be contacted via http://www.thehelpdesk.us, but I'm not sure if that's still valid or not. I'd definitely make sure you get a reply with a cancelation confirmation number if you try to cancel Joel Comm's My-Internet-Payday using that method.
4:28 am
Thanks Paul, makes me feel much more relieved to try out the course.
5:00 am
I dont mean to put a spanner in the works but it took me over 10 days to cancel and I am still monitoring my credit card to this day.. – so if I were you tread very carefully and leave yourself enough time to cancel since I have since found out its a 7 day trial.
5:05 am
No problem, Amanda
That's pretty important information. Alvin, another reason why if you cancel by email you need to make sure you get a confirmation number quickly.
Personally, I'd give them 24 hours. Maybe 48 hours at most.
7:24 am
Thanks, I can see where you both are coming from. In the most desperate case, it's best I try to cancel it by calling if the ticketing service fails to respond
5:25 pm
please contact me regarding my internet payday,
9:44 pm
Hello Dorothy.
Do you work for the company?
6:42 pm
All these comments and I have yet to see what would appear to be a real person apart from the blog owner, Paul.
By the way Paul, thanks for facilitating discussion on the subject.
As will any of these programs, READ THE FINE PRINT TWICE —
All too often the so-called squeeze pages and sites are set up rather quickly and often lack the polish and attention to detail of a full blown site and are very rarely tested for folks coming from oiutside the US.
Always remember to do your homework and seek out both negative and positive feedback about a product before even thinking about making a decision — and never let your need for money override your common sense and gut feel.
7:34 am
I would like to contact the company to cancel. What is the tel. code for South Africa before the toll free number.Or where in the U.S.is infoMedia, inc 1151 Eagle Dr Suite 325 Loveland, co 80537 located. This is about my http://www.my-internet-payday.com.with joel.comm. Can you please help me as well

1:48 pm
what if I sign up to trial with a virtual master card and limit it to 1 dollar expires in 10 minutes? is it the best way to see what's inside trial duration?
4:24 pm
Hi
I registered to this site (myinternetpayday) and i have read the terms and condition. I contacted them and said that i would like to cancel my membership/subscription. They said that they have canceled it and i have receive an email that they have canceled it. Is it true that they already canceled it? Has anybody encountered that they cancel your membership/subscription before their trial ends and if they did they not get any money from you?
Hope my questions to be answer immediately..
Kenneth
6:01 pm
Yigit,
I'm no attorney, but I would think that your contract in that case is really with InfoMedia so I would think that legally you'd still be on the hook for those charges.
Kenneth,
The best I can tell you is that despite a rocky start with this offer InfoMedia is a reputable company and Joel Comm is well known online, so I'd be surprised if you had an issue.
7:12 pm
Pual,
Thanks for the reply!
Kenneth
7:13 pm
Sorry i misspelled your name
Thanks again..
Kenneth
7:21 pm
LOL. No problem, Kenneth.
And you're welcome.
7:21 pm
Dear Paul
Could you please help me. I did not know it would be so difficult to cancel my http://www.my-internet-payday.com contract over the phone. All the telephone numbers that InfoMedia, has given me to use i have tried plus using the U.S.code 0011 before dialling there number. In South Africa i also need a area code so i need to know were in the U.S. they are situated.Do you have any idea ?. I will appreciate it if you could maybe help me.Even a e-mail address would be nice.
Kind Regards
J. C.

J.C., I posted this earlier, but here it is again:
At one point Joel Comm posted that they could be contacted via http://www.thehelpdesk.us, but I'm not sure if that's still valid or not. I'd definitely make sure you get a reply with a cancelation confirmation number if you try to cancel Joel Comm's My-Internet-Payday using that. Their address is:

9:20 pm
Hello Paul
That web site is not valid anymore. But thank you for trying to help me. It seems i will have to write them a letter. It would have helped me if i knew where in the U.S. loveland,co 80537 is situated. I only joined them last night, but once i glanced through the first weeks presentation i realised that it was not for me. I have no problem in giving them the first $1, just not interested in continuing.
I did receive three e-mails from them, but i have not clicked on anything as yet, thought if i did i would be committing myself to there contract, as i sure did not read the fine print.I then typed in http://www.my-internet-payday.com to find out more about the company and came across your discussion group and saw how difficult it was for people to cancel. So now i am in a real dilemma.
Thank you
J. C.
9:25 pm
J.C. it looks like WordPress added something when I posted that helpdesk site. I just typed it in directly to my address bar and it took me here:
http://support.infomediainc.com/index.php
Which should be exactly what you need.
I'm fixing the other url now that does the redirect.
9:33 pm
J.C., have you tried this number:
970-278-0011
For you i believe it would be
001+1+970-278-0011
10:48 pm
Hello Paul
Thank you i went on to that link submitted a support ticket with details of my request. So all i can do now is wait. Just hope it works, as it is way past midnight here in South Africa and i need sleep.I also printed out that page when i was finished.Gosh!! just saw you left me a number thanks i sure will try this and keep in contact with you tomorrow.
Thank you so much again
Kind regards
J.C.
7:01 am
Hi Paul,
Thank you for your answer
4:33 pm
Paul,
For example, as i sign up in myinternetpayday i put my name and last name but the credit card is not mine..will they will able to get money from the credit card??
Need immediate reply..
Kenneth
4:52 pm
Kenneth,
I'm going to assume you used someone else's card with their permission here.
I'm surprised that you didn't get a decline message when you signed up unless you put the cardholders name in on the order form? If you put the cardholders name, address, etc. in on the order form then I would assume the card would get charged.
5:25 pm
Paul,
I use my auntie's credit card with her permission..I said to her that i can get money..When i found out that i would pay large, i said to him that i was wrong and i sign up to a scam (what others called). She got angry to me and i found out how to cancel it. as i said yesterday i cancelled it. I fill out the information using mine not my auntie's name, etc..
Will they get money from my auntie's credit card?
Kenneth
5:38 pm
Kenneth,
Normally a transaction like that would get declined if you filled out your name but used her credit card. That's what's confusing me. Normally you'd get an online message right away saying that your transaction was declined.
I would say that if you got access to the private membership area that somehow the card was charged and could be charged.
But if you canceled within the trial period then the card should only be charged $1.00.
I'm somewhat baffled as how they were able to charge the card if they did – although that would fall under credit card fraud protection which isn't my area of expertise at all.
5:53 pm
Paul,
Thanks for the answers..
Kenneth
7:22 pm
Hello Paul
I have NOT been successful with any of the telephone numbers i have tried. NO matter which time of the day,all phone numbers are inaccessible. Not even OUR telephone company can use those phone numbers to access them. So i have done all i can do on my side to cancel. I did submit a support ticket with details of my request, with your help.
Joel in his comment he made in March the 9th 2009 in your column above said [all voice mails left or tickets opened during trail period will be honoured as you would expect]. So i will just have to believe that, as it went though successfully on my side, and i have that in black and white.I recall in my mind that i did not click on the last pagers you could still get as FREE when glancing through the first interdiction on my-internet-payday,as by then i knew that it was not going to be something i would pursue.
In two of your columns you gave a "HERE",in blue,i have subsequently clicked on that and read the Code Of Advertising and found under"FREE"(a)something useful and of interest. I also went to see my Bank Manager and cleared things up there.
I would just like to thank you for your support as it gave me much encouragement to see just how far i would go to try and cancel this problem i got myself into. I have given them all i have in my mind for the last two day's and feel that this is there problem and NOT mine.
Kind Regards to you Paul
Thank you again
J.C.
7:40 pm
You're welcome J.C.
I'm a bit surprised they don't have things set up a bit better for countries outside of the U.S.
6:56 am
I had never heard of My-Internet-Payday.com…until somehow a $1 charge appeared on my credit card statement! I have no idea who got ahold of my credit card information and signed it up under this website, but I have never been to this website before. I don't even use my credit card for online purchases besides iTunes, my Verizon bill, or recurring purchases like that. I have used it in the past for other internet purchases, but not anytime recently. I immediately called and had my credit card canceled because of this scam.
9:31 pm
Does someone tried myinternetpayday and canceled it before the trial expire? Did you not encounter problems in your credit card account after canceling the subscription?
Kenneth
6:26 pm
Joel Comm used to have an okay reputation online so I am very surprised to see him use similar tactics and techniques to the scam sites. Sure he has made the t&c clearer over time but the comments above still suggest lots of support problems and the site has almost the same look and feel of the scam sites. As far as I am concerned any positive opinion I had of Joel Comm is now gone because of him jumping in the same cesspool as the shady "get rich with Google" offers.
In any case if you want to learn about adsense there is plenty of FREE advice and info online – paying $78 per month is ridiculous in my opinion.
The way this is being marketed by CPA affiliates is disgraceful too – http://www.marysmoneyblog.com/index.php?t202id=1569&t202kw=media319593 same fake check, fake picture, fake earnings claims and fake testimonials as all the other get rich quick crap flogs (fake blogs) out there and claims of "Get paid $5 to $30 for every website link that you post on Google" is a completely false misrepresentation of what Adsense is.
The CPA network and the merchant have a duty of care to ensure that affiliates who breach the FTC guidelines in this manner are kicked out of the network.
The day will come when the authorities go after the affiliates directly for these breaches and it is unlikely they will find the CPA networks and merchant to be free of blame either.
7:32 pm
Not Kevin,
This has definitely been a strange experience here, which is why I started off so cautiously in how I presented this product.
You may have also noticed that I never used an affiliate link for the product – that's because there was too much about the way it was initially presented that bothered me – plus I never took access to the product so I don't know how far beyond freely available information the product goes.
There are definitely times when paid training goes well beyond any free training you can get – or there are enough extra tools or a professional support commutnity – to make monthly fees worthwhile.
But I just didn't know in this case.
The following isn't a comment specifically about this offer, but about the nature of offers run through many of the top affiliate networks:
The FTC should try to focus their attention on the affiliate networks themselves when possible, because that's the real way to deal with "problem offer" problems more effectively, because the affiliate networks are the means of mass distribution through their relationships with affiliates and large email list owners.
Too often a product owner will merely move onto set up a similar offer under a different name in a (usually effective) attempt to stay one step ahead of law enforcement.
10:41 am
It's nice that I could get the first 10 lessons for 1 buck.
I can't seem to find the other 3 though.
11:09 pm
I'm sorry, my internet payday relies on lies and deception to trick people into buying information they already have it IS affiliated with scottsmoneyblog, and, though they have altered the websites repeatedly to create an illusion of legitimacy, it is nonetheless still a scam, regardless of which iteration it's in
11:46 pm
Well,
I'm not recommending My-Internet-Payday anyhow which is why I told people to grab a copy of his inexpensive book first. I guess maybe I've leaned too far towards giving Joel the benefit of the doubt here, but now that I see the defunct HackerSafe logo back I have to really wonder what's going on.
But Kyazu I have to say I'm not crazy about the fact that the HackerSafe logo is back and that apparently those fake blog-type websites are promoting the product now – especially since I put out a warning a long time ago about those fake sites here:
BradsMoney – where's that government check.
1:03 am
Referring to the actual landing page for MIP rather than the fake blogs of the CPA affiliates – I have to agree with Kyazu here – not only is the my-internet-payday site using a VERY similar look and feel to the scam sites it is also using the same tactics (fake scarcity: text saying only 46 slots left; irrelevant logos to imply authority/trust (NBC ABC CBS CNN WSJ); misleading statement "Google pays $150-$356 USD a Day To Work from Home" etc etc
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/riskfreetrial2.php?SID=50519
Plus small print at the bottom: "The individuals shown are paid models, and not necessarily My Internet Payday or InfoMedia Inc. customers. " And on the credit card info page, yes they put the info about the continuity but it is still in much smaller print than any of the other text above the fold on that page.
From someone like Joel Comm? Not good enough! Yes, as you point out the info MAY be good – I cannot comment on that as I have not signed up and therefore have not seen it – but bear in mind that adsense is a lot less complex than say adwords and yet monthly membership clubs for adwords like those from acknowledged experts like Glenn Livingston ($29.99 per month) and Perry Marshall ($39.99 per month – was $29.99 until last month and still is for existing members) and Howie Jacobson ($20 per month) are all around half the price or less that of Joel Comm's rate of $78.64 per month. Plus all those people are very straight about what you are signing up for and what you will get so you know exactly what the terms are. And for less than the price of Joel's offer ($77 one off fee no monthly recurring at all) you can get access to the entire niche blitzkrieg course…
But my main problem is not the content or the price – it's the WAY that this is being marketed – not just by the CPA affiliates but the way it is being marketed by Joel.
My Internet Payday is probably a product aimed at 'newbies' and I think there are much more reasonable ways to promote it.
And this is not the first time that Joel has used forced continuity without being totally 100% clear about it – even Lynn Terry was caught out last time: http://www.clicknewz.com/1449/download-joel-comms-97-guide-for-under-10/comment-page-1/#comment-128881
So Paul perhaps you have "leaned too far towards giving Joel the benefit of the doubt here"? In any case I for one will no longer buy anything sold by or recommended by Joel Comm after this.
1:55 am
Another fake blog, this one has the Infomedia address in small print at the bottom. Which might make it easy for people to think Infomedia either owned or approved this site:
http://wealthresource.org/kevin/
2:24 am
That's a good comparison between Adsense revenue type training and Adwords-related training and a good point.
I've set up a secondary site specifically dedicated to negative option offers which at this point I am NOT making a commercial site, although I'm using it as a .com should I decide to change my mind. It's up here:
http://www.negativeoptionmarketing.com because I am NOT a fan of how much of negative option marketing is done, but there can be value to the consumer when it's done right.
I may retake the MarketingExperiments Certified Online Testing Professional test as they were working on a way to cut done the sample sizes needed for testing scenarios and I'd like to be able to specically measure things like the effects of font-size in the disclosure, placement of the disclosure (even the obvious cases of above-the-fold and below-the-fold), writing out monthly charges in words instead of numbers, etc.
And I'm trying to document what is reasonably measurable and what can't truly be measured when it comes to how negative option offers are presented.

Are you in the United States or U.S.?

COMPLAINT NUMBER:46018853
I am praying that the company of My Internet Payday Membership respond and NOT charge my credit card for I
WANT TO CANCELL IMMEDIATELY.
As a precaution I ve contacted my credit card issuer to stop
all online purchase approval with immediate effect.

If not a scam then definately deceiving. First, no where during sign up or in the terms of service page did it say I would be charged 78 dollars after 7 days. Secondly it is NOT easy to set up. You better have a computer science degree to understand the adsense set up instructions, which is how you would make any money. as for customer service….what a joke. this guy joel makes his millions by ripping people off. I'm still trying to cancel, and can't get through.

I am so f*cking tired of getting bogus e-mails from these people.
If anyone is inerested in contacting the marketing comapny that is responsible for "My internet Payday" sites such as tomgetsgreen.com, kevingetsgreen.com, etc as well as ebayworkers spam e-mails here is their contact information. I suggest you call them directly because they are the ones who created these websites and spam e-mails and are responsible for helping to scam you out of your money. They are located in Loveland, CO and their direct office telephone number is:

U.S: 1 888.210.9941
Fax: 970.278.0033
Ask to speak directly to Joel Comm or Ken Burge.
++++++If they don't answer at their office don't worry here is their home telephone numbers. Gotta love using the internet against these SOBs that use it to scam us. All this info is easily available
[Personal information has been removed, because it is mainly the affiliate networks that are
allowing the sites such as TomGetsGreen.com - not the product owners].

So has anyone that has been on this site made any money from this payday thing or not??
12:52 am
has anyone made any money in the first place??
1:03 am
I too am having problems cancelling my membership – I too agree that the monthly membership fee was not made clear on sign up and unfortunately can not afford this at the moment.
I have logged 2 tickets at the helpdesk address posted throughout this discussion, tried to call all the numbers that I can find and sent an email to the address that confirmed my payday membership – all of the above have been useless, I have had no response to any of them.
I want my membership to be cancelled ASAP – god what do you have to do – will cancelling or reporting my credit card as lost prevent any money being taken?
Helen
1:05 am
May or not pay to mention that I am in NZ
11:44 am
78 dollars? A steal…
I don't have it, never knew I was supposed to have it?
How do I cancel by e-mail or something that doesn't require me to speak to them by phone?
What if I don't cancel it? They can't take any money from me because I ain't got it on this credit card.
3:06 pm
Helen,
I had cancelled my membership.
Just call 1-970-278-0011, just use voipraider cause it's free to call on united states.
Hope it helps..
Kenneth
5:06 pm
Yep, totally agree with comments about scamming.
I have tried ringing several times, and each time, my call is in a long queue of 20 – 38(most recent) other callers. And calling long distance to US, I'd be going broke in no time at this rate. What sort of a professional does not put up an option to cancel on the members area? Also, the voice message says that callers could contact support@infomediainc.com, what for when you get no response back whatsoever. I have left messages, and tried ringing, and I will never be taken in by Joel Comm again, ever!
7:02 pm
This is being advertised (by affiliates) on adwords too (in a very misleading way)
Eg: This one even claims to be offering jobs – not even a “business opportunity” but actual jobs (which of course don't exist).
Here is their adwords ad:
Now Hiring: (Good Job)
Job Requires: Basic Computer Skills
Your Own Home Computer. Weekly Pay.
http://www.MarysLifeJob.com
7:24 pm
You can cancel the membership by filing a ticket at http://support.infomediainc.com, calling 1-888-210-9941, or for international callers use 1 (786) 866-9353.
As for the scammer comments the terms are all over the pages and I cannot see any other method for canceling your membership that they could even offer. Some people don't pay attention to anything they are doing including putting their credit number in and purchasing things.
8:53 pm
With reference to (Joel @ 6:30 am) response to Nick on March 9, 2009
"Nick,
The trial offer is completely legitimate and my office is entirely reachable by either telephone or email.
You can call us at 970-278-0011 or open a ticket at http://www.thehelpdesk.us"
I tried calling the phone number, again was in a queue of 20 callers ahead of me, so I took the option to submit a cancellation request – as per the recorded message – at :
http://www.my-internet-payday.co/index.php?module=cancel&s=3
I received a cancellation confirmation number, finally! After many attempts to cancel, I can now hopefully relax.
So, for all of you who are attempting to cancel, go straight to the link I posted here. You should have no problems getting a cancellation confirmation.
8:56 pm
Ooops, correction, the link should end with .com (it got truncated in my earlier message), so it should be :

Some interesting points made in Paul Myers newsletter today:
http://talkbiz.com/tbn050709.php#story
It's a long article so I will pick out the following quotes from the above source:
"A lot of marketers tend to take a very narrow look at each section of their advertising and content, treating everything with what they believe is clever legalistic parsing of specific statements. They also believe that, as long as something is mentioned at least once in their copy, that it's got them covered from claims of misrepresentation.
Dumb assumptions. Also, not surprisingly, wrong. "
and
"The FTC looks at it from the same perspective from which a typical consumer would. Which is to say, they consider the impression that a typical consumer would get from the advertisement. They know that a "typical consumer" doesn't read every line of a long copy sales letter, just as clearly as copywriters know it. They also know that most consumers don't read the disclaimers tacked onto your ads.
By the way, if you think you're being clever by putting your disclaimers in small and/or faint text at the bottom of your ads, you need to rethink your position. That's like screaming at a regulator: "Read this ad carefully. It's intentionally deceptive!"
Yes. Really. Ask your lawyer.
If you hide the recurring billing part of an offer so well that it takes someone like me five minutes to find it, when I'm actively looking for it, you're just begging for problems. The fact that it's there isn't enough. It has to be clear to a reasonable person. "Reasonable person" doesn't mean "Reads every word of the copy," either.
That's not a fictional example for dramatic emphasis, by the way. I really did see an offer – a heavily promoted one, by a very well-known marketer – where the recurring billing "option" was that carefully hidden.
You may be sure that I won't be buying or promoting any of that gentleman's products any time soon."

I agree with the person who wrote that you may have to cancel your credit card if you have tried to reach the company to cancel your subscription, but are not receiving any response. You should not be forced to pay for something that you don't want or cannot afford just because someone is making it extremely hard for you to cancel.
9:08 pm
i too may have fallen for this so called "easy money scheme",i filled in my credit card details but rather than hit the submit button i went back a page first to confirm something and then decided not to submit but i got an initial email which i was asked to click on a link to get a free ebook so now that i got this ebook does this mean im on his payroll even though i didnt submit my cc details but went back to his homepage ,in other words would clicking back a page be the same as clicking the submit button. the email i have received is Joel Comm's absolutely FREE Payday Report eBook and weekly Payday Report Newsletter!
4:27 am
Clicking the back button is not the same as clicking the submit button, but I remember a different offer not related to this one where people were claiming that they were getting charged after clicking the back button instead of the submit button, so I'd recommend you check your CC statement to see if the initial $1.00 charge showed up.
That way you'll know for sure.
10:58 am
thanks paul , in theory i agree with you that i shouldnt be charged and the reason i got his email is you fill your email address in on the first page and by clicking on to the 2nd page automatically registers your address in his files but just in case can you tell me the phone number i should be using for cancellation…..im a resident in the uk
2:43 pm
I still haven't received a cancellation confirmation
So is this it? Am I being robbed by this guy?

I just tried Myinternetpayday services. I also tried to cancel before my trial period was over. I called the numbers provided and got a recording saying the voice box was full (goodbye). They have already charged my bank account. I have also tried the links provided to no avail. Now I have to change my bank account in order for them not to charge my account again.
6:03 pm
paul thanks again, i called my cc company and they tell me my card hasnt been used in 2 weeks but as a precaution ive changed the number so that should be that…ta ta
9:49 pm
I have some issues with this. I just tried to sign up for my 7-day trial and after giving my credit card information, I noticed that there did NOT seem to be an icon in my browser window indicating that it was a secure form (my first mistake). Then on the next page, where you fill in user information to register a user account to access the members area, the form was either broken or the server was having issues.
I waited for 15 minutes while the page failed to load and my browser kept saying it was waiting for a response from the server. I then tried to log in, hoping that my information had been submitted only to be greeted by the error that my username and/or password was incorrect. So I tried to use the link to retrieve my password and when I entered my email address, it told me I did not have an account.
I check my email looking for a confirmation notice that either my payment was accepted or my account was created and all I find are two messages both insisting that I have to click the link inside to ensure that I receive future messages regarding my account. Both have simply "support" as the sender and when I click the link inside (my second mistake), I'm redirected to a simple page that tells me I have successfully confirmed my email for…no name. Both confirmation pages show a line that SHOULD end with the name of the company or service but it's not there.
Frustrated since it's only a 7 day trial period and I can't afford to pay the normal monthly fee if this is not going to work for me, I went in search of the help page…which there is NO LINK FOR anywhere on the site. So I called the number listed on the "contact" page and instead of reaching customer service, I got a recording telling me the mailbox was full!
At this point, I'm feeling scammed. I went to the link for the terms to find other phone numbers and finally reached a service center. The URL for both the help pages and the online cancellation page is ONLY available via the recording on that service line.
I haven't broken down enough to try using the cancellation form yet to see if it even works. But after going through all of this and wasting the first day of my trial waiting for a response to my service ticket, I notice some things about the site that normally would indicate a scam or phishing.
*Typos in the web text
*Broken forms
*Email INSISTING that I must click the link within
*Errors on the confirmation pages those links redirect to
*Missing help links and/or information
*Non-functioning customer service line
*Live help offline during normal business hours
…am I missing anything?
IF this is a legitimate web-based business, I would think that they would test their website and double-check for errors and typos BEFORE publishing it publicly. So either I've just been scammed or the owner of this site was in a serious hurry to get it posted and too cheap to hire reliable help with the site itself. If the latter is actually the case…then I have to wonder why this person can't afford to hire a reliable webmaster if his program is so successful.
12:08 am
The so called "Call customer service" at the numbers listed on their site to CANCEL you subscription don't work. It's a big 1$ scam that costs you 78$ monthly after the first seven days. When I subscribed I didn't carefully read the conditions and after a week and a half I've seen that they charged me 78$ on my credit card. Let me tell you that I was shocked. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE AT THEIR PROGRAM IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PAY 78$ MONTHLY. This should be written on the first page because even if you try to resign from the
program in the first 7 days you can't. You can't reach customer service and there is no way to contact them by e-mail. The only way to cancel your account is to go at http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=cancel&s=3
and I don't know how much time it will take to cancel. This will get ugly is I can't contact them to refund my money.
Andrei
1:15 am
I would like to leave a comment. I cancelled my account DAYS AGO!!!!!!!!!!
My banking information shows that I have been charged ANYWAY. You managed to get $78. even after I cancelled. I have confirmation #, too.
I want this money re-credited to my account or I will be contacting Better Business Bureau!

After several frantic search for help I managed to cancell.; by the URL provided by silverfuck.
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW their reply…
Something like this…
…Your membership/subscription are now cancelled. Since
you made the cancellation after the 7 day trial period we have no alternative to charge you the 78 Dollars.
…. you may use the course and after this you will
no more be charged…
SCREW THEM. RETURN BACK MY MONEY. SCUM BAGS.
Please readers pass the message to your friends, this is
a thinly veiled marketing by them which is a TRUE FUCKING SCAM.
Yes USD 1.00 first to entice you , and they make it very
insconspicuous on the 78 Dollars monthly charges.
LET US ALL UNITE AND REPORT THIS SCAMMER TO THE RELEVANT
AUTHORITIES.

Dana Chandler,
Do you cancel it after the trial expires or you cancel it before the trial expires??
Kenneth
3:11 pm
I did not receive any cancellation notice even though I tried to cancel it. We'll bring this Joel bastard down.
5:26 pm
Joel, I had opened a ticket for cancellation. I was caller # 41 while I tried the toll free # to cancel my account. I didn't get a confirmation email stating that my ticket has been received. I called in over and over again to cancel, and finally spoke to a CS Marina, the WORST CS EVER! Trust me ever spoken to. Sooo rude. No Manager available and am still waiting for my cancellation confirmation email to arrive. Have not got any yet! How can you advice that the tickets opened within trial will be accounted for cancellation? Stay Away! I am very disappointed with the service. I am waiting to hear from a Manager.
5:53 pm
the easiest way i found to cancel your membership is to go to my-internet-payday.com/cancel. the 3rd page is the cancel page. it worked for me hopefully it will work for you.
6:37 pm
I cancelled within minutes of finding out there was a hidden 78.00 charge! Pissed me off!
6:40 pm
I've tried contacting the BBB. There was no evidence that this so called "company" even exists.
Guess I should have known myself that $1.00 was too good to be true with some money-making business. Usually (with ones i've tried before) it took least $1000 to just get started!
8:29 pm
I dont care if the content is good or the course is helpful. I just know that that "scam artist" Joel guy managed to deceive people who are hopeless and may have serious financial issues. That is not fair at all and he needs to pay for it. I called my bank and told them my credit card was stolen so they wont be able to get any fee. But i am really pissed off about the way the company my ass do business. Whatever you people decide to do i am so on it because people should guard against these kinds of bast..rds..
10:48 pm
Dana,
We do mention that additional terms apply five times on order page, and pricing is also on order page and terms.
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=order
Here's the BBB information: http://www.bbb.org/northern-colorado/business-reviews/online-salesmen/info-media-inc-in-loveland-co-46013275 The BBB graphic is clickable on the order page.
We now have an online cancellation form to auto cancel accounts and apologize for the difficulties some customers have had with our phone lines. We will continue to ramp up and evolve to meet the demand for our products, as well as address customer concerns.
Problems with your account? Fill out a ticket at: http://support.infomediainc.com or call (888) 210-9941
3:48 am
Since someone asked about the BBB, I should point out that currently the BBB logo on the My-Internet-Payday site will take you to the BBB report when you click on it.
Originally the BBB logo wasn't clickable which was one of the problems I had with how the offer was presented.
The offer was originally called MyGooglePayday and when I pointed out that the BBB logo wasn't clickable and the HackerSafe logo wasn't valid (both of those issues have been fixed now), Joel (or someone using Joel's name) posted the following:
"Hey Chaz,
Thanks for discussing the offer here!
We recently learned that Hackersafe is no longer active and are switching to McAfee as soon as we can get it running.
I'm not sure why my team didn't link to the BBB site, but we are BBB accredited with an A+ rating!
http://www.bbb.org/wyoming-and-northern-colorado/business-reviews/internet-selling-services/info-media-inc-in-loveland-co-46013275
We'll get that link up shortly.
As for the content, we have put together what I believe is the best Internet marketing and business education and tools that money can buy in our member site.
Warm regards,
Joel"
10:02 am
THIS SITE IS A FUCKING SCAM!!! IVE BEEN RIPPED OFF!!! IM GOING TO HUNT THIS JOEL MOTHER FUCKER DOWN!!! IM GOING TO CUT HIS TONGUE OUT AND EAT IT!!! YOUR A DEAD MAN JOEL!!!
7:29 pm
joel i hoope you die in hell
12:17 am
This is a SCAM !!!! who so ever is saying the content is good is part of scam master Joel gang..
is there a way to get money back after they have cheated you?? I need the money back. I am out of the job and really need these bas…ds to give my money back.
2:25 am
MIPD,
I think part of the problem is you're getting a mix of people who order through the first iteration of the order form and other people who ordered through the newer, better iteration of the order form.
That's why I try to point out at the TOP of the blog post the improvements that were made to the order process. Joel (or someone claiming to be Joel) posted that he was fixing the BBB logo and the Hackersafe issue…which eventually WERE in fact fixed.
And the monthly charges disclosure currently is now at the top of the order form where as previously it was at the bottom of the page a fair distance from the submit form. So I think people who ordered through the first iteration aren't necessarily aware of what the My-Internet-Payday order process looks like now.
Bird, as far as the content is concerned, I'm personally only saying that about OTHER products of Joel's that I've purchased – not about the My-Internet-Payday product per se.
2:58 am
There is another version of the order form here:
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=order2&formid=43
The additional monthly fees info is still in tiny grey print on a dark yellow background (hard to read)
The 'look' is very similar to the Easy Google Profit landing page which judging by the amount of complaints is at best deceptive and probably a scam.
http://blogclasses.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/joshmadecash-order-form.png
And the testimonials are for previous products so why are they misleadingly being used for this one?
My Internet Payday is still being promoted by fake blogs with fake testimonials etc – why no comment on this by Joel /Infomedia and why no crackdown on these CPA affiliates as what they are doing is clearly illegal.
If it's such a great product why the BS – just be upfront and say something like "we think you will love My Internet Payday and you can try it out for just $1 at no risk, after that it's $78.64 per month but if you decide it's not for you then simply cancel online or by phone within the first 7 days"
As Paul Myers said here : http://talkbiz.com/tbn050709.php#story
"Consider: If your product genuinely offers a solution to a problem or the fulfillment of a desire on the part of a market, you can convey that message in an effective and motivating way, without the need for deception.
If you can't, either your product or your sales copy needs serious work."

Hi Paul, Yes that version of the order form is being actively used right now as I clicked through to it from one of the fake blogs today – so if the offer is being run through more than one CPA network I would guess there is probably more than one version of the order form?
6:56 pm
Yep. I just clicked off one of the fake blogs and went through through a site that used that order page.
10:44 pm

Nice company you keep Joel!
Seems like I am not the only one who is surprised to see Joel Comm and scam in the same sentence:
http://www.richjerkreviews.com/My-Internet-Payday-Scam.html
But now we know who his 'friends' are maybe it's not such a big surprise after all.

That's fine, Not Kevin, but in my opinion calling something a scam without understanding what the legal meaning of scam or fraud is, is irresponsible. There is a specific legal definition of fraud and it's up to the legal system to determine if a particular offering meets the legal definition of fraud.
As Lesley Fair stated in her 2007 staff presentation about "Clear and Conspicuous" at the FTC Negative Option workshop:
"About 5 or 6 years ago with the help of many of the people in this room, the FTC and the magnificent National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus had a one day workshop called Disclosure Exposure that did nothing but talk about this issue.
Coming from that event are what the FTC – what we call “The Four Ps”
Four of the factors that the commission staff is going to look at when we determine if a disclosure is clear and conspicuous.
The first – “PROMINENCE: Is it big enough for consumers to notice and read?”
Second “P” – “PRESENTATION: Is wording and format easy for consumers to understand?”
Three – “PLACEMENT: Is it even where consumers are going to look?”
Four – “PROXIMITY: Is it close to the claim it qualifies?”
Let me go through these each very briefly to give you a couple of examples of what we’re talking about.
Prominence – Big enough for consumers to notice and read.
The questions that we will ask ourselves and we hope you will ask yourselves:
“Is the typesize big enough for consumers to read easily?” Bear in mind there are a lot of 28 year old whizbang ad execs out there that may not realize that there are others of us at perhaps a more advanced age that that 4 point type just hasn’t existed for me since about age 38 and so you do have to bear in mind who your target market is…to remember that type size can be very important.
Is there a sharp contrast between the disclosure and the background?
The commission brought a case about 4 years ago that I think I can charitably say dealt with (a Crew letters) on a parchment background…very hard to read. It was not something – because of the contrast – consumers were going to be able to notice and read.
Please note the text under section 5 of the FTC Act is not “Is it readable?” The text is, “Is it read and understood and noticed and absorbed by the consumers who are going to be involved in the transaction?”
What matters under the FTC act is consumer’s net impression. That is always the bottom line from an FTC standpoint.
So the question isn’t “What did the advertiser intend to convey. What really matters is “What did the consumer actually understand?”
My little mnenomic – my little way of remembering this, you know. The question isn’t “Is it understandable with a magnifying glass and your attorney present?”
The standard is, “Are consumers in their normal way of looking at something going to be able to get at the end of the day…will they understand what the transaction involves?”
The key part that people who jump out and call something a scam miss is "what is the net effect to consumers" and how is that determined?
One way it's determined is by the complaints that are filed through the systems that have been set up such as:
econsumer.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
The Internet Crime Complaint Center
The attorneys general offices of your state and the state of the company
complaint.bbb.org
The FTC does look at the complaints from the BBB when considering it's possible case against a company.
Now, I'm not sure what other factors are used to determine the "net effect to consumers" and a couple issues come to mind:
1) Complaints aren't a true random sampling, so theoretically I don't see how they can be extrapolated to a larger number.
2) How much does the FTC consider the volume of transactions involved? I.e, 100 complaints filed against a business doing 300,000 transactions per year would be much different than 100 complaints against a company doing 1000 transactions per year (all else being equal).
12:38 am
Well I didn't quite call it a scam (though some here and elsewhere have). I just said I was "surprised to see Joel Comm and scam in the same sentence"
I prefer the dictionary definition of the verb scam:
"deprive of by deceit" – I think that's a fair description of any hidden continuity offer where the continuity bit is hard to find – either tucked away in the terms on a seperate page or in the small print at the bottom of a page.
Nobody likes being 'tricked' and nobody likes a nasty surprise of a chunk of their money dissapearing from their bank account when they were not expecting it.
Yes, of course people should read the small print – but (false) calls to action like "hurry only xx slots left" or a countdown timer or an annoying talking Joel
do tend to pressure people into rushing…
And do most people always read the terms and conditions in full? – I mean sometimes there is pages of the stuff and always in such small hard on the eyes print. Just today I downloaded an update for some Apple software – didn't bother to read the terms in full – partly because I trust apple enough not to have something hideous in there, but also because hey it's hard to read and I have more interesting things to do so click yes accept…
When it comes to marketing I just prefer the honest approach – here is this great product, this is what you get, try it free for x days then it's $xx a month but if you don't think it's for you then you can cancel anytime..
Maybe this 'soft sell' approach is not the most effective for the seller but it makes me comfortable as a buyer and probably cuts those 'scam' complaints down to almost zero too.
1:05 am
Not Kevin,
My comment about "calling it a scam" being irresponsible was directed towards the RichjerkReviews site.
I'm not saying that it is a scam or it isn't a scam. I'm trying to point out to people that those determinations aren't made in discussions like these.
All too often, I see people complaining about "nobody doing things" about X or Y, but when push comes to shove, they themselves take none of the necessary steps that would help law enforcement to do something about "X" or "Y".
2:07 am
Not Kevin,
I just reread what you just wrote, and you mentioned something I hadn't thought about before – and that's the offers that use the count-town mechanisms and how those could be construed as discouraging people from fully reading the terms of an offer.
I need to revisit all active versions of the My-Internet-Payday offer, as I don't recall if that type of thing was being done here.
I recall in the State of Texas' petition for a temporary restraining order against Google Money Tree that they did in fact discuss that offer creating a false sense of urgency:
"14. Defendants also attempt to create a false sense of urgency. For example, the GMT and GTC Sign-up Pages include a timer that begins counting down the time in which the offer is purported to. expire.1 But at the expiration of the represented time, consumers are instructed to "Reload page for last chance." See Exhibit D. Reloading the page puts the same amo.unt of time back on the countdown timer, and the page can apparently be reloaded an infinite number of times.
Similarly, " the IE Sign-up Page represents that the offer is only available to the next 362 consumers before the
price for the program will "return" to $197. As you linger on the site, the counter starts to count down. In reality, there is no such limit on the number of kits available – simply reloading the page returns the counter to 362".
One thing else that just jumped out at me as I reread that petition was this statement:
"22. On information and belief, at the time of filing this petition, at least 300 consumers, including at least 17 Texas consumers, have complained of Defendants' business practices, detailing occurrences substantially similar to those described above."
Which surprised me considering that the WorkAtHomeTruth Google Money Tree discussion here had around 700 comments on it (although quite a few were multiple comments from the same people).
6:25 pm
Well, we in Europe call this a scam. Its a shame for myself to got a victim of this.
You have to inform clearly about any additional costs !!!
Thank god we are on a safe side because european banks immediately take the money back and cancel the credit card. Its stress enough, though.
DON'T GET A MEMBER OF MY INTERNET PAYDAY !!!
By the way the website is down, so cancelation not possible. Hope it stays down !
7:19 pm

8:45 pm
Sheron,
What you're alleging about Joel owning the Internet Crime Bureau website, etc. doesn't make any sense.
To start with – according to DotGov.gov – the site for .gov registration – all .gov domains require CIO Authorization:
"All Federal Agency domain requests must come from the Chief Information Officer of the Federal Agency. See http://www.cio.gov for a complete list of federal-agency CIOs.
11:15 pm
There is a countdown (an annoying flashing one) on the initial landing page as well as text reading "hurry only 46 slots left open" (which is of course complete bovine excrement)
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/riskfreetrial2.php?SID=fakeid
[This landing page is a current one from both CommissionEmpire and LeadExpose CPA networks]
There isn't a countdown on the payment page – however there is a 'talking Joel' who looks impatiently up and down to his right once he has stopped talking. The number of "slots" has also suddenly decreased to 38.
WARNING! More importantly (and not mentioned in your original post) is that the payment page is over a non secure connection (http: instead of https: ) A big no no to send your credit card details online this way. See this screenshot:
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/scambuster_photos/mip2.jpg
HTTP and HTTPS – What is the difference?
"You understand why this is so important, right? If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://. If it doesn't, there's no way you're going to enter sensitive information like a credit card number!" From:
http://www.virtu-software.com/ask-doug/QandA.asp?q=7
12:32 am
Not Kevin,
You're comments are interesting in light of something Lesley Fair said in her FTC presentation on Clear and Conspicuous disclosures:
"Also is it free of distraction that might compete for consumer attention. I call this – not an official name – but I call this “the adorable puppy corollary”.
On T.V. ads, speaking to…by myself as a consumer, the more adorable the puppy is on the screen, the more I realize I Just missed important superscript, fine print on the bottom of it.
So we want to make sure that companies are aware to be cognizant – whether on T.V. , in an online setting, to make sure that there are not other graphics that would be competing with consumer…competiting with the disclosure for consumer’s attention."
I could see someone making the argument that the "Talking Joel" and the version of the order page (version 2 that you pointed out before) using an asterisk that indicates the details of the monthly charge can be found somewhere else on the website…I could certainly see someone making the argument that those might compete with the disclosure for consumer's attention.
I transcribed the Lesley Fair's full presentation on Clear and Conspicuous disclosure and put it up here yesterday:
Staff presentation on Clear and Conspicuous disclosure.
I have someone else working on transcribing other parts of the workshop which you probably only a handful of people like you and me would actually be interested in. Other people can use the videos for curing insomnia.

Ann, Don't bother trying to ask a scammer to stop scamming you, cause it ain't gunna happen.
Do your self a favor, Call your bank in the morning and tell them that the charges on your credit card were unauthorized and you want them to issue a charge back on all moneys taken from your account.
You say your living here in Aussie. Well then, I'm sure you've heard this before, "Harden the f#*k up", Grab him by the balls and don't let the bastard get away with it.
The only way you can hurt him is by getting your money back, so do it. Call your bank.
Then ring the ACCC and see what they have to say, they may direct you to the IfS (International fraud squad).
Just because Joel Con thinks he's operating legally in the states, doesn't mean that its legal for him to operate that way here.
Do us Aussies proud girl.. go get the bastard
Cheers
James
11:10 am
Ann,
I give you my tip what I did.
Problem solved.
I just call in my bank and tell what happened.
Then they just delete my CC and now they will send me new one with new numbers etc..
11:47 pm
I am totally gobsmacked! In a moment of weakness I bought into a scheme that was going to bring in much needed cash. It looked good; I mean it appeared to be affiliated with Google. I received a link, which I was supposed to click on & checked in everyday for some more info. Nothing materialised & I had to take my daughter to Cape Town (I live in South Africa). My car broke down & I was stuck there for a week without my laptop, while waiting on the carpart & repairs. Paid a bomb for that, drove home, worked like mad to catch up on work. Then another nasty surprise: my Credit card statement showed that an unauthorized amount of ZAR682.18 got debited from my account,on top of the ZAR8.70 application fee. Reported this to my bank & waiting for the outcome, but is bloodspittingly MAD. I am sitting in South Africa & despite state of the art systems, I am unable to contact this scheming troll by email – another clever scheme to distanciate himself. No I have to call, which means I should sit up till who knows what hour.
Did Google grant Joel permission to use their name? Surely America should have an Advertising Board that regulates unethical matters like this. We are talking Crooked Joels little beady eyes looking impatiently to the area where you should fill in your details, faded asterixes & small print, etc, etc. This is hugely unacceptable by any International standards! Then Americans wonder why the rest of the world are weary of their super smooth ways. Please advise me who I can report this matter to, as I am financially in dire straits & I would feel beter if I could prevent this daylight robbers from ripping of some more innocent people. Thank you
1:55 am
Annelie that was already covered in the May 19th post.

HEY GUYS< DONT KNOW IF YOU HAVE NOTICED, BUT I GET THE FEELING THAT THIS

CANCEL THE EXISTING CARD TO AVOID ANY FURTHER DEBITS FROM THIS SCAM. THE BANK WILL ISSUE YOU WITH A NEW ONE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.
THIS IS HOW IT IS DONE HERE IN THE EU, DISPUTE AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK. DO NOT TRY THIS ON GENUINE PURCHASES BECAUSE YOU WILL BE CAUGHT.

LOL. To the guy who says to "read carefully". Apparently he, himself can't read.
I'm not on anyone's "side" here and I've stated numerous times that if I had done this offer I would have made the disclosure more conspicuous.
If you would even bother to read the 5/19/2009 post you might have a clue as to what I'm trying to say there. You can run around all you like calling something a "scam", but there's a specific way that's determined in the U.S. and part of that relies on your feedback – and I posted the links to the feedback mechanisms that the authorities rely on consumers to use to help them make that determination.
Just because I says there are "improvements" doesn't mean that's how I would have done the order process.
Plus if you actually DO read, you'll see a discussion between Not Kevin and I where he points out a second version of the order form.
Sheesh. And I thought Europeans were supposed to have a better educational system than the U.S. Guess not in all cases.
ONE THING THE GUY DOES KNOW HOW TO DO IS TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS THOUGH. LOL.

Hi
I am in South Africa and i have been trying to cancel my membership for the last 2months. Annalie please let me know if you are able to cancel yours. I went to my bank and they said there is nothing they can do for me as i authorised the transaction.
Some one in South Africa please help. This is too much money for me.
12:56 am
Sharon,Hi.
Do what I did and have your bank cance your card and ahave a new one issued. The debit order is coming off your card. Once the card is canceled, they can no longer get the money off you. Have the bank issue a new card as that will come with a new number andyou will be safe. I know the banks there are wierd, so to play it safe, tell them that you have lost your card and need it cancelled and a new one issued. When a new card is issued it has a new number. As long as the bastards dont get hold of your new card number, they cant get the money anymore.
Youre not alone.
Hoop dit help.

Yes I do read, and especialy between the lines. I stick to my convictions on this matter as do hundreds more on this forum. Your fancy wording doesn't fool me or anybody else.
Just by the way……………. I get the feeling that you know Joel personally……….. is that true?????
4:32 am
Joao,
I don't know Joel from Adam. I bought one course of his ONCE and that's all. It was his Adsense Templates course.
Apparently my "fancy wording" – whatever that is – fooled you, since you've come to some pretty illogical conclusions.
Think about it for a second. I have broad editorial control over this board – meaning I don't have to publish anything I don't want to, so why would I even bother publishing YOUR comments here? It doesn't make any sense.
7:00 am
Hi Toni, James, Kenneth and Paul,
Thanks very much for your valuable comments, but I realize it is really my entire fault, there's too many "i should have not..etc" but the thing is, Joel took my money because HE thinks HE really DESERVED it, if that's the case then so be it.. I will EARN again what he took from me, i could wash every dishes from some chinese restaurant here, i could pick strawberries or grapes in one day and EARN that Aus$ 106.57 thru HARDWORK… I just hope he will stop this kind of act, maybe as with you Paul, you believe.. but then again, i realize i can't b rich believing that any of this ONLINE could help me getting rich, but then i FAILED.
Let me share these with you :
i'm a realist, i know that the future is in my hands, its not all in faith, pursue your dreams, never give up. "dreamers" and no such thing as a free lunch, work for what you want. if you succeed, its yours, if you fail, at least you tried your best.
Take good care and more power to you guys!
Best Regards,
Ann

Hi There Joao
Thank you very much for your insightful comment; must admit I was a bit fobbed off by Paul's cool one line reply after I have spilled my guts in a moment of total frustration. I got exactly the same impression as you for a fleeting moment. I do think we should all stand together against, wringing the hands, waiting for the next fool to be trapped, greedy Joel. Internal mud slinging will get us nowhere. Paul, I am sure you are a decent, level headed kind of guy, but YES we do need a bit more compassion. We are aware that in America everybody get sued over trivial matters all the time. One should be very careful what you say, but still I say: give Joel horns! This is no time to stay neutral & to allow this rollercoater crooked system to take more people for a ride. We are all hopping mad! Thank you for the links provided. I did report the matter to the Internet Crime Complaint Centre, who seems to be effiect judging by the quick response time of the case no forwarded. Also think we should all "loose" our Credit Cards immediately – practical idea.
5:21 pm
you are scammer i think if you warn me after 7 days i could refuse it i forgot why did you sen me mail back again about this you taked my 78 $ i want my money back
pls i want the quit from this system what must i do
6:54 pm
Annelie,
I reread what you posted and I apologize. I suppose it's a case of burnout and being sick for 4 days.
You have to realize that I get calls and emails from people almost everyday who have either lost their house, are about to lose their house, have lost their job, or are about to lose their job, or worse.
Sometimes I can't handle it and the emotional part of me just shuts down.
Keep in mind that I have several dozen discussions like this going on at once – one of the longer ones consisting of over 700 comments is here:
Google Money Tree, much of which was used by the National Consumers League to write up their warning here (you'll see they referencee my blog):
NCL warning on Google Money Tree.
And back to Joao's claim that "I'm on Joel's side" – if I were on his side, don't you think I'd pull this whole discussion of My-Internet-Payday completely off the internet before someplace like the National Consumers League decided to start analyzing it?
Even Not Kevin's remark – a person who has contributed substantive information to this discussion – that "I prefer the dictionary definition of scam" while it may make you "feel better" doesn't provide you with the reality of how determinations are made in situations like this.
And although the 5/19/2009 certainly only explains part of the process, it at least DOES give you real information STRAIGHT from the regulatory agency along with complaint forms for you to use to be part of the process for making that determination.
If that language is "too fancy" for all of you, I'm sorry. But that's the way it is.
Or if you want a better understanding of how the FTC analyzes deceptive advertising, you can start with the FTC Policy Statement on Deception here:
FTC Policy Statement on Deception
6:00 am
One thing that you might notice in the FTC statement that refines what Not Kevin posted from Paul Myers blog is:
"Second, we examine the practice from the perspective of a consumer acting reasonably in the circumstances. If the representation or practice affects or is directed primarily to a particular group, the Commission examines reasonableness from the perspective of that group."
Which appears to mean that theoretically the exact same offer could be handled differently depending upon the demographics the offer was targeted towards.
12:43 pm
Hey guys and girls
Just came back from the bank and great news, got my money back and also got my new card. The dispute method works, just say that the debits were unauthorised. My bank followed up the debits and found that the "so called company" doesnt exist and also the fact that the contacts given are not working is grounds enough to grant the refund – they tried for a few days and noting (Joel has a problem when his bank starts to refund monies), and force the original bank from where the order came to pay the money. Great system we have here in Europe. Viva EU laws.
USA might have laws protecting such sites, but here in the EU it doesnt, any scam is dealt with.
So folks in the EU – go to your banks and dispute the debits.
Sharon in SA – I have found out from my contacts in SA that you can also dispute the payments at you bank – just say that they are unauthorised and you will get your money back. It takes about 40 days though. Cancel your card as well and get a new one. The South African Police Services are investigating this scam already and working in conjunction with their USA counterparts on this.
Take care and good luck.
12:51 pm
We have the same dispute system here in the U.S., which was covered a couple times during the discussion, when I answered other people in other countries telling them to check in their own countries, which Jaoa apparently did.
I posted that back on March 31, 2009, so while you may be proud of your "find" it just goes to prove once again that you don't really READ. The reason I mentioned that in the U.S. you typically have to try to work it out with the merchant first is because that almost always is the first thing the credit card company or bank will ask you, before they'll even consider proceeding with a dispute and I saw a lot of people validate that experience on other discussions on this blog.
Our rules are covered here:
HelpWithMyBank.gov
Also, if what your saying about the case being investigated is true I'm surprised as typically law enforcement in the U.S. would have instructed you to NOT make that information public, but maybe Europe is more lax in that matter?
1:39 pm
i never order your service! this was not authorize by me. and this service needs to be cancel a.s.a.p now5/22/09
my name is florene woodley (florenewoodley773@gmail.com)770875-9498. please put my money back on my card this is fraud.
1:56 pm
Florene, this is something you should discuss with the actual company or your bank or credit card company, depending upon the nature of the transaction.
You can find the details for the U.S. at HelpWithMyBank.gov
The current link for canceling directly with the company is:
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=cancel
That's the most direct way right now for canceling the membership to avoid future charges. However, you'll need to skip through some sales copy where they try to sell you on additional services.
5:59 pm
Hi Folks!
an advertised as an "accredited BBB company" just got a complaint from me. InfoMedia, Inc of Loveland, CO, USA. A Joel Comm production.
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/riskfreetrial.php
another "make money with google" info scam.
They claim it's "A Risk Free Trial".
They get you hooked up by charging you 1 dollar for more info. They now got your card info then … watch out!
Even if you follow their terms and conditions and cancel prior to the 7 day trial period, they charge your CC $78.64.
You then have to dispute the charge at your bank and Info media is slow to respond and return your money. I hope they are just slow because after 2 weeks I still wait!
anyone else had experience with this outfit or if a thread about these snakes already exist, please advise and/or forgive me, I am new to such postings. I did do a search first – yes.

hi folks,
I too got some problem with them. This program sounds like an additional burden with my existing credit crisis. I saw that mary's money making ad and even i thought of making money online and I used that links to follow and they showed that there is an offer for you specially in next 10 minutes and when i used the credit card, they took only only 1 or 2 dollars and they started sending me a lot of mails , but after 4 days i received some mails from some other companies that you are registered for this program that program and you will be charged some 1)78 dollars – company 1
2)34 dollars- company 2
3)78 dollars- comapny 3
but at time my bank got only 6 dollars and i cancelled my account from them and only one compant chareged my bank account and they paid me back after a complaint to them.
Until there everything is good
BUT MY PROBLEM IS WITH MY-INTERNET-PAY-DAY.COM
THESE GUYS SEND ME A LOT OF MAILS DAILY ABOUT MAKING MONEY, BUT THEY NEVER INFORMED ME ABOUT THE CHARGES THEY WERE KEEPING ON MY BANK ACCOUNT AND WHEN I SAW MY ACCOUNT THEY CHARGED ME 78 DOLLARS ON MY BANK ACCOUNT AND WHEN I ASKED MY BANK , THEY TOLD ME YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN NEGATIVE BALANCE AND THEY CAN'T KEEP A HOLD ON MY TRANSACTION.
SO I MAILED THE COMAPNY ABOUT THE PROBLEM I GOT AND ALSO THE CANCELLATION NUMBER, I GOT AFTER CANCELLING THE ACCOUNT ONLINE.
BUT THEY NEVER REPLIED ME REGARDING THE ACTUAL ISSUE ,
THEY JUST SEND ME SOME reply to my MAIL :
1:37 pm
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET BACK THE $78.64 GOOGLE CHARGED TO MY CREDIT CARD?
IF SO, HOW?
SHOULD I WAIT TO CANCEL MY ACCOUNT WITH THEM UNTIL THIS MATTER IS SETTLED?
OR CAN I CANCEL IT NOW TO PREVENT ADDITIONAL CHARGES?
8:12 am
@Paul,
"The current link for canceling directly with the company is:
http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=cancel"
That is not the direct link to cancel, that only takes you to part 1 of the cancellation. Part 1 is some crap that tries to justify that they have done no wrong,
stall tactic to try and stop people from canceling.
Part 2 is an unnecessary form that is not even part of the cancellation process, It even states (Patronizingly)
"If you do not want to succeed online and truly feel that you are not ready to make the committment to success… then click here"
lol What a load of patronizing crap.
For those that want the direct link to cancel, then go here http://www.my-internet-payday.com/index.php?module=cancel&s=3
But as many have stated, it's probably easier to go directly to your bank to cancel.
Cheers
James

@CGS
It was not Google who charged your credit card. Google have nothing to do with this.
Google says: http://www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=9110
"We're always sorry to hear when a site misrepresents its products or treats individuals unethically. As you may know, Google is a reflection of the web. Although we aggregate and organize content published on the web, we don't control the content itself, and it's our policy not to police content. Rather, by including as much information as possible in our results, we hope that you'll be able to easily find warnings about rogue sites.
However, we've heard from our users about a few specific schemes that you should watch out for. Here are some scams we know about as well as some tips to avoid getting ripped off:
* Make-money-fast sites: Sites offering 'fast cash with Google' or a 'Google success kit' that promise a quick buck if you join their schemes or pay for their 'online kits' have nothing to do with Google. Users tell us that their services involve a lot of hidden charges. Remember that, in general, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
* Google lottery: Users have told us about a common email scam in which they're told they've won a 'Google lottery' or other award. Sorry — there's no Google lottery.
* Look out for disclaimers on sites that appear to be, but aren't, affiliated with Google or other recognizable brands: These disclaimers usually appear at the bottom of the page using variations of the language 'GOOGLE is a registered trademark of Google, Inc. We are not a partner, affiliate, or licensee of Google Inc., nor is our company in any other way formally associated with Google Inc.'
Report sites that use the Google trademark inappropriately."
They go on to say:
"Additional steps you can take
Regardless of where this site appeared, you can take action by alerting the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which handles complaints about deceptive or unfair business practices. To file a complaint, visit https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
call 1-877-FTC-HELP, or write to:
Federal Trade Commission
CRC-240
Washington, D.C. 20580
You may also consider filing a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). http://www.ic3.gov/ "
I am sure all this has already been stated in this thread already somewhere.
Anyhow.
If you tell your bank that the charges are unauthorized, then they should refund your money.
Cheers
James
