Todd,

I'll give your organization the benefit of the doubt on that. I've changed the top of the page to go directly to your event, but...

I have a responsibility to my readers to stay completely on topic which over-rides the "presumed intent" of a blog poster. It looked EXACTLY like blog spam and blog spam while much easier to control these days is still a huge nuisance.

Blog posting etiquette 101 is stay on topic so when someone just comes and randomly posts something they are immediately labeled a blog spammer. It sounds like in this case it's more likely an overzealous volunteer who hasn't been trained properly OR didn't understand the training.

I have people coming to post their business opportunities, telecommuting sites, etc. many of which are good - but that does NOT give them the right to break basic blog etiquette convention.

Typically what I do if a resource looks valuable is do a special write-up of it.

Paul,
I apologize that someone blasted your site with an unwelcome message. We are holding the event to help the thousands of out of work people in the state of Delaware. The event is at no cost and thus we have people helping to promote this important event. I would ask that you consider the intent of the poster and not add it into the category of spam. We are really trying to make a difference in the lives of many people. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I will ask those that are donating their time to help so many, to be more careful on their methods.

Have a good day and best of luck to you and the success of your venture.
