Two people who had a major influence on how I think about helping people online passed away within the past couple years. It’s still shocking to think that they’ve passed.
I’m a MUCH better person for having stumbled across their sites and information in my early days of figuring out what all this “online business” stuff was all about.
The first was Bob McElwain, a founding member of i-Cop.org who laid out alot of lessons that took me much to long to “get” and who was kind enough to personally reply to my emails on more than one occasion.
You can read about Bob McElwain here.
The other was Lesley Fountain (MaaMaw), the owner/operator of FriendsInBusiness.com which I came to realize early on was a place where a newbie like me at the time could really get a helping hand from people who cared.
Lesley Fountain passed away on 8/23/2009 and her husband’s initial plan was to discontinue the FriendsInBusiness site.
Today I took a look at the board again and it appears that he’s changed his mind and is planning to keep the board open and has stated:
“I will not be closing this site as I had mentioned earlier. It will take me a while to get the hang of what MaaMaw’s site entails, but with all of your help I will try to maintain this site to the standards set by MaaMaw.”

Holy crap, I used to visit Lesley’s site all the time. Haven’t been there in a while though, what terrible news.
I think most of us had the same reaction.
It just doesn’t seem possible.
