@<a href="#comment-14434">Gary Watson</a>: Gary, that should cause them a chargeback.

In case you didn't know it, Google recently filed a lawsuit against Pacific Webworks (PWW) which you can read about here:
<a href="http://www.workathometruth.com/blog/2009/12/09/google-forgets-to-disable-pacific-webworks-adwords-account/">Google lawsuit against Pacific Webworks</a> - you'll need to scroll down a bit to get to the bit about the lawsuit.

I just want to add thsi message to anyone from the UK reading these posts.

I got suckered in my an advert for what I thought was from google and paid by debit card as there was no paypal links (lessons learnt).
Anyway have been charged by www.yourprofitgateway.com (trading as PWW Internet Biz ) three payments of $79.90 unuathorised by me, but seems it was in the terms of sale, when the email arrived in my junk box.

I have just called my bank in the UK and they have been most helpful - so do this as your first port of call - they have cancelled my card, re-issuing a new one, and asked that I monitor my account for further charges and are re-funding these unauthorised ones going back three months. So its never too late to deal with re-occuring unauthorised payment scams. Maybe because they have caused me charges over my authorised overdraft has helped - I do not know, but contact your Bank first, then the company if you can get hold of them.

Do they incur charges for claiming payments or not? Does cancelling them cause them chargebacks? Just curious....

Anyway I am happy that I have hopefully stopped them taking further money off me and it will only ever be Paypal transaction from now, now link, a dodgy site.....beware...

Thanks for this blog found it helpful...

I am leaving it in the two posts that I have mentioning the name. We all had a little talk and decided that there is no reason to leave their name out as long as we include other names of companies that we are posting that are supporting or using fake blog sites and advertising that includes reoccurring billing, without making it easily apparent to the consumer.

@<a href="#comment-13986">gregw</a>: So that's not your site? Ah. OK.

Well, Greg. Last time I was sent a Cease & Desist on a different case (In Deep Services) I immediately provided a ton of documentation to the FTC and signed an affidivat they prepared that helped them file an injunction in that case (part of the Operation Shortchange case).

About the dumbest thing a questionable company can do is send a cease and desist to certain sites (like this) because they are opening themselves up to a full discovery process...

...A little trick I learned from my friend Lynndel Edgington who runs Eagle Research Associates and works with an assigned federal agent. (You might know him as EagleOne).

Plus I know the media would LOVE a story like this. I provided a lot of details to 20/20 on the Penbrook Productions case - (another one in Operation Shortchange). They'd go nuts on a story like this.

One of my friends who is a former attorney for the MO AG's office here might find this whole thing amusing as well.

What is interesting to note, is that you said that my site is http://www.riaef.com, and in reality my name is on the register, but I have been told to cease any mention of Pacific WebWorks on the site by the administrators.

I have had to go back through my posts and delete all mention of Pacific WebWorks.
Amazing.
These criminals are far reaching.
