Connecting websites through naming conventions

Often companies will name their products with the same or similar naming conventions. If the naming convention is unique enough it’s often possible to find possibly related sites through the use of:

  1. A domain search tool
  2. A class C I.P. block checker
  3. A reverse IP look up tool

I go over the steps in the above video, but here they are again:

  1. Use DomainTools domain search function
  2. Click on advanced search
  3. Enter words to search on
  4. Enter the maximum domain length to look for (I picked 35 in this case)
  5. Select with or without hyphens or both (I selected “without hyphens” in this case because I know the company doesn’t usually use hypens in their domain names)
  6. Get both active and deleted domains (for other purposes you might only want active ones)
  7. Click search to get the results
  8. Extract the search results using Web Data Parser (note: you will not get top level extensions (.com, .org, .net, etc)
  9. Use Web Data Parser to extract the domains only (remember, you don’t have the top level domain extensions at this point.
  10. Copy the list of domains
  11. Use KeywordMixer to add the top level extension to the domains (I added .com in this case)
  12. Copy the results (domains are now in “domain.com” format
  13. Paste the results of step 12 into a bulk class C IP checker
  14. Check the results of the bulk class C IP checker for any domains with the same I.P. (in this case I found 4 domains on IP 174.143.30.126
  15. Do a reverse-ip lookup on any IP you find in step 14 that has more than 1 domain hosted on it

Results of this example

In this example I found 224 domains on I.P. 174.143.30.126 – however, as you see in the video I was only looking for the bizop ones at this point.
