Interesting unsubscribe, although a bit disheartening

We recently got an unsubscribe email from someone who said, “Not at all trust worthy have shared this concern with many friends and co-workers.”

Now it’s fortunate that for every 1 unsubscribe we get lilke this we have hundreds of comments like the ones in the discussion of GoogleMoneyTree Complaints to give me a more well-rounded perspective.

And besides it’s the NEGATIVE feedback that really drives improvement. Usually someone who’s complaining IS seeing something wrong with the site that we’ve completely missed.

One thing that would be more helpful would be if they would have said WHY they felt the site is untrustworthy. Did they have a bad experience with a product? Did they click on an advertisement (which are CLEARLY marked as ads) and stumble onto a scam? I’m not crazy about some of the ads, but even places like About.com run the same sorts of ads and we don’t have a whole lot of control over them.

Or maybe despite thousands of pages of free information they’re offended that there are things they can buy at the site. Some people ARE offended at any thought of something being sold no matter HOW helpful the information is.

Maybe they weren’t crazy about the list at the Top Ten Home Businesses page.

So here’s the deal. If you think the site sucks, is untrustworthy, could be better, please be specific and we’ll work on improving it.

But just stating that “The site is untrustworthy” and that you’re going to run around telling your friends and coworkers really is just helping the scammers get further ahead.

The advantage of slow loading websites…

Cindy gave the following unsubscribe reason:

"Because your websites take FOREVER to come up when I click on the links you include in your newsletters."

Now, first of all. At least the time people take waiting for my website to load is better used than running around buying silly rebate processing opportunities or data entry scams.

And second of all, isn’t slow a relative term? I mean, if you compare my site to the old, but sadly now defunct, WaitForever site mine is lightning-fast!

Let me just say this again…

Valerie said this when she unsubscribed:

"Seems like the same info everytime. Nothing new."
