How NOT to approach potential partners

Today we received the following email – (I’ve removed identifying information).

“Hi webmaster,

I have just reviewed your website http://www.workathometruth.com and offer a partnership opportunity with our website. Our site (site link removed) sells credit card equipment and merchant account solutions.
As our valued partner you will be required to place a banner of our site on yours and promote our services therein. This would generate additional income for you without any time investment on your part. For every complete registration by a lead referred from your site, you will receive a commission of $100 based on the option chosen. Our account managers will help you in promoting the program and guide you to helpful resources required for the same.

The partnership details can be found at (partnership details removed) or feel free to email us.
Looking forward to hear from you soon.”

Call me crazy, but this doesn’t sound like a “partnership proposal” it sounds more like a form of dictatorship – “you WILL do this”. A partnership doesn’t start by sending random emails pretending that you looked at a site, when it looks more like you’re just spamming the hell out of them (even if you aren’t, first impressions are everything).

By the way, I’m still trying to figure out how they knew that my name was “webmaster”.

Besides, those are horrible payouts for this type of affiliate program. Only a moron would even consider a deal like this.

But then again, I guess with their spamomatic techniques that’s their target demographic.
