List of data entry work from home companies is up

OK. I’m done with the list of data entry work from home companies.

I would have been done sooner, but somehow I lost a 1/3 of the list towards the end and had to reconstruct it. That kind of thing doesn’t happen very often to me, but when it does it’s pretty annoying. LOL

Click here for the list of data entry work from home companies. I also have instructions for getting it in PDF format at that page.

I’d be curious to know how many of you are using RSS feed readers as that would be the smartest way to keep you notified of any updates to the list.

The rest of this is just me rambling about things I’ve been thinking about or dreaming about putting together to make people’s telecommuting searches easier, so feel free to ignore it. :-)

I’ve been thinking of how to improve on some of the automated ways that are available to pull back telecommuting job listings. I haven’t talked to much about those ways yet, because they tend to bring back quite a few scams (although if you follow the Rules page you should be fine).

Really the results from the automated systems need to go through additional filters (such as checking them against reasonable salary ranges at places like Salary.com or ones from the Occupational Outlook Handbook.

I actually have a system in mind that goes all the way from selecting search words to pulling back results and passing them through multiple filters, but we’re a long way from there.

The start of the idea was the telecommuting tool we put up here a while back and — um — pretty much kind of ignored (sorry). It’s still useful for someone who understands how to conduct proper telecommuting searches though.

Do you want me to do this?

I keep thinking of putting together a list of real home-based data entry companies (for free) for subscribers to work at home truth.

UPDATE: Click here for the list of real home-based data entry companies (for free).

If you’re more interested in home businesses, you can skip this, although you might want to read my "Good or Evil" review of a ten-dollar product marketers have probably been flooding your email boxes with here. I think I give a pretty unique perspective.

You can read the "Good or Evil" review here.

Otherwise, let’s talk about putting together the data entry company list (by the way, I’ve also been playing with Google alerts to see which keywords bring back the most legitimate results for telecommuting positions in general. I’ll let you know when I have enough data on that).

Here’s what holds me back.

  • Data entry jobs are incredibly hard to land because there’s so much competition.
  • A significant amount of data entry is done by overseas workers who are willing to do it for as little as $1.50/hour (not all data entry has moved overseas, but a lot of it has).
  • The people I’ve known who have found data entry positions have found it either through networking or volunteering for a company first.

However, it really wouldn’t take that long for me to put a list together. So I’d like to know two things:

1) Would you like me to compile the list.

2) Would you rather me put it up as a web pages or create a PDF document for you or both?

I’d appreciate it if you’d leave a comment letting me know. At least that way I know I’m not talking to myself. LOL. :-)
