This guy is “doing it”…

I got a lot of my schooling in jazz (I’m also a jazz pianist) from drummer Maurice Carnes in his basement in Wellston – famously known here in St. Louis as “The Jazz Lab” (by the way, Maurice played drums on one of the tracks of Marcus Roberts’ landmark album “Deep In the Shed”).

When I started getting my first local jazz gigs he would say to me “Paul Schlegel is doing it!” – meaning not just hanging around in the basement – but out there actually doing something.

Why am I thinking about that now?

Because recently I got this compliment from a visitor to WorkAtHomeTruth:

Comment: “Your website is awesome! I just started creating a website too and it is nothing compared to yours.”

My reply: This site was terrible at the beginning. Check out what
it looked like when it first started:

Note: I just noticed that Marcus Roberts recently did a recreation of “Deep In the Shed”.
