Today I got this through the feedback form and it’s one of those messages where there’s really no great way to respond. It was a simple link-exchange request but I found it hilarious because of one particular sentence…
Let’s see what that sentence was, shall we? Here’s the link exchange request:
“Hello,
I am contacting you to see if you would be interested in link exchange with a site I am representing:
[site name removed]
Link exchange is an important part in promoting a website and in getting rankings on search engines.
If you are interested please send me your link information including: title, url and a short description.
This is my link information:
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Marcia”
OK. Can you guess the hilarious sentence?
Right! It was:
“Link exchange is an important part in promoting a website and in getting rankings on search engines.”
It would be disastrous for me to explain why it’s funny because with something like this you either “get it” or you don’t. Besides as anyone who has tried to do so can attest, trying to explain a joke always ends up being a painful experience.
