The Fake News Phenomenon Continues…

Over the years I’ve tracked literally thousands of fake news sites and fake blogs. At one point it seemed like they were going to go away…but now it doesn’t seem like they ever will.

In fact most marketers using fake blogs seem to believe that placing the word “Advertorial” at the top of a page means that they can then do whatever the heck they want…including:

Including lots of fake comments in a comments section.
Claiming that their fake story was seen on ABC, CNBC, CNN and other major media outlets
Putting advertising sections WITHIN the advertorial (huh?)
Putting real news video footage within their fake news stories

Of course many of them just don’t use an advertorial disclaimer at all. Just like products such as Bloggers Payday one thing’s about 99% certain (OK maybe 100%)…you should more than likely AVOID any “business opportunity” that these fake news sites promote.

The following graph from Compete.com shows the relative traffic levels of the fake news sites NewsDaily7.com, News-11-Today.com as compared to the Federal Trade Commission website, FTC.gov (Even though the fake news sites appear to be buying a lot of traffic – and probably some really cheap traffic). Attorney Michael Webster who specializes in Misleading Advertising Law has suggested that, “suggested that anytime a scheme is more popular than the regulator who oversees it and hundreds if not thousands things like it: RUN AWAY. Don’t stop to think, just RUN AWAY.” That might not always be true of course, but my guess is that MOST of the time it will be.

Rich Janitor review and analysis of sales page

When I first started my Rich Janitor review of its sales page it was because so many people had asked me for my opinion on The Rich Janitor program by Mike Dougherty.

At first the requests to review Mike Daughtery’s sales page at RichJanitor.com just trickled in. But then the requests came in fast and faster. And no wonder…at the time of this post, according to Amazon.com’s Alexa ranking service The Rich Janitor website is the 4,075th most popular website in the United States and the 9,935th most popular website on the entire web:

So I took a look. There are a lot of strange things going on at The Rich Janitor site – especially when you compare it to another site called The Rich Dishwasher – which appears to be run by the same person (both sites are registered to the same person and are hosted together with only a handful of other sites).

The Rich Janitor site claims to be about a person named “Mike Dougherty” who the site claims was a janitor who amazingly stumbled onto the secret of massive online wealth.

The Rich Dishwasher site claims to be about a person named Ignacio Delgado who came to the U.S. in 2006, worked as a dishwasher and amazingly stumbled on to the secret to massive online wealth.

There are numerous problems with the stories at The Rich Janitor and The Rich Dishwasher websites – especially when you compare them side-by-side…and because both websites are registered to the same person – who is NOT “Mike Dougherty” or “Ignacio Delgado”.

A quick video comparing The Rich Janitor sales page to The Rich Dishwasher sales page will show what I mean:

In fact another site which uses the exact same testimonials from “Ken Coleman”, “Stan Mayfield”, “Hung Nguyen”, and “Sunil Chandrashekhar” is called Rate Race Assassin and is supposed to be about a “Single California Dad” named “Thomas Pride” who uncovers a “Powerful System For Making Quick And Easy Cash Online After Losing $7,373.28 With Internet Marketing Schemes”.

The bottom line is that there are 3 different sites controlled by the SAME person/company with stories about 3 different people (a janitor, a dishwasher, and a single father from California) – all that use the EXACT SAME testimonials from the following 4 “people”:

Ken Coleman – who wants people to know of The Rich Janitor, The Rich Dishwasher, and Rat Race Assassin: “Lots Of People Could Use This System Right Now…”
Stan Mayfield – who wants people to know of The Rich Janitor, The Rich Dishwasher, and Rat Race Assassin: “”One of the Most Simple, Unique and High Quality Systems I’ve Ever Seen”
Hung Nguyen – who wants people to know of The Rich Janitor, The Rich Dishwasher, and Rat Race Assassin: “Works Like A Charm…”
Sunil Chandrashekhar – who wants people to know of The Rich Janitor, The Rich Dishwasher, and Rat Race Assassin: “”I’d Recommend This To Anyone…”

Actually, Ken, Stan, Hung, and Sunil apparently got confused when they gave their testimonials for Rat Race Assassin, because they keep referring to “The Rich Janitor” program as you can see in the video below:

So a quadruple oops and a triple thumbs down for The Rich Janitor, Rich Dishwasher, & Rat Race Assassin’s ability to keep their facts straight on their sales pages!

One last thing…perhaps what’s most interesting to me is that Matt Bacak – who likes to boast about being the “Internet Marketer Of The Year” – was promoting this product. Although, if you’ve seen my recent Mass Money Makers review of his sales process for that product the fact that he promoted The Rich Janitor probably won’t surprise you at all.

News Daily 7 Scam Analysis

NewsDaily7.com has been up to a lot of mischief lately. I’ve previously posted videos showing that they’ve:

Hijacked the BizyMoms.com domain to use in an Adwords Ad for News Daily 7
Hijacked the MothersWorkAtHome.com domain to use in an Adwords Ad for News Daily 7
Run ads for NewsDaily7.com through multiple adwords accounts
NewsDaily7 sometimes puts their Advertorial disclaimer at the very bottom of the page AFTER the reader has scrolled past EIGHT (8) order links (2 of them are on the images).

12/19/2011: News Daily 7 is currently promoting Home Income Cash Machine.

I’ve been shocked to see the HUGE NUMBER of other sites to which News Daily 7 com may be connected and some of the strange things going on with many of those sites.

Here’s the strangest – and maybe scariest thing – I’ve seen a site associated with News Daily 7 doing:

It appears that either the company behind News Daily 7 or a company closely associated with News Daily 7 now controls the following 2 sites:

MicroSoftCustomerCare.com
MicroSoftcustomerCare.net

The following video shows why I believe that to be so:

Although the above video shows what appears to be the domain MicroSoftCustomerCare.com owned and hosted by Microsoft – when I used a different tool to check the ISPs of the nameservers shown in the Whois listing for MicroSoftCustomer.com…

…they didn’t match the actually ISP and location listed for MicroSoftCustomerCare.com which at the time of this post is:

The video below also shows that the company behind the MicrosoftCustomerCare.com & MicrosoftCustomerCare.net domains is using them as tracking domains through Prosper202:

Both Whois history and Archive.org records have been blocked for MicrosoftCustomerCare.com I was able to find an old PowerPoint presentation that references the MicrosoftCustomerCare.com domain (see the video below):

After doing a bit of research for this News Daily 7 post I learned that it is in fact possible to inject false IP information into DNS records through something known as “DNS Cache Poisoning” and that one of the steps to prevent DNS Cache Poisoning is to make sure that DNS servers are not fully open to recursive queries.

I ran microsoftcustomercare.com through a name server report and received the following information which shows warnings about recursive queries being allowed for ns1.msft.net, ns2.msft.net, ns3.msft.net, ns4.msft.net, and ns5.msft.net

The image below shows that the company behind News Daily 7 com appears to be operation out of the same area of the world.

Several sites show that they are registered to a company called “Relevant Global Marketing” (more on this when I update the post)
