If there’s one thing I hate most of all it’s marketer’s preying on the naivete of people who don’t understand how the internet works.
This morning I woke up to find this VERY scammy headline in my email box by an online busines person who I GUESS has an impressive background and a lot of people respect.
This is just sick in how predatory it is:
The subject line in the email was:
“We made the first page in Google News …”
Then within the body of the email this person goes on to say:
“…page #1 of Google News.
Here’s what they had to say about
Here’s the problem…”Google News” had NOTHING to say about them.
What happened was this person’s OWN company submitted a press release and THAT press release was LISTED in Google News.
To be more specific, this person’s OWN company submitted a press release through a SERVICE called SearchByHeadlines.com and the listing from SearchByHeadlines was listed in Google News.
Ugh. I’d love to give this person the benefit of the doubt…
I mean…I suppose it’s POSSIBLE the person who sent the email just doesn’t understand how all this works but based on the person’s background, experience and overall knowledge that is VERY doubtful.
