Fake News Sites

The fake news site Weekly-Consumer-Newsletter makes two bold and conflicting statements. First Weekly-Consumer-Newsletter claims:

Home Job Placement is one of the most successful online job placement firms. They have helped over 16,493 people find legitimate work at home jobs.”

Then later Weekly-Consumer-Newsletter goes on to say:

“If there are any jobs available in your area, get certified as an Auction Listing Specialist (it’s super quick & easy); this qualifies you for instant placement in an actual paying position as well as gives you full access to all the training tools and resources you need.”

Sorry – that simply isn’t how being an Auction Listing Specialist works.  First of all it’s NOT a job even though both HomeJobPlacement.org and Weekly-Consumer-Newsletter seem to want you to believe it is.

I’ve told people recently, even with all of the free tips on this site and the very few legitimate home jobs databases like HomeJobStop.com finding a work at home job or freelance position is quite difficult during this economic downturn. Not impossible, but difficult.

And what of the story about “Sally Vickers” in which Weekly-Consumer-Newsletter.com reports her as saying, “In a recent interview, she stated, “I make $75 an hour just by posting listings for Fortune 500 companies on eBay. Right now, I’m earning around $6500 a month.”?

If you scroll to the VERY bottom of Weekly-Consumer-Newsletter.com you will see the following disclosure:

“THE STORY DEPICTED ON THIS SITE AND THE PERSON DEPICTED IN THE STORY ARE NOT REAL. RATHER, THIS STORY IS BASED ON THE RESULTS THAT SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE USED THESE PRODUCTS HAVE ACHIEVED. THE RESULTS PORTRAYED IN THE STORY AND IN THE COMMENTS ARE ILLUSTRATIVE, AND MAY NOT BE THE RESULTS THAT YOU ACHIEVE WITH THESE PRODUCTS. THIS PAGE RECEIVES COMPENSATION FOR CLICKS ON OR PURCHASE OF PRODUCTS FEATURED ON THIS SITE.”

And above that you will find the following information:

“CUSTOMER COST: The actual customer cost to purchase the offer being promoted herein by Consumer Weekly Newsletter is $197. Please refer to the applicable Terms & Conditions for the offer.”

That’s EIGHT TIMES the cost of a legitimate home jobs database like HomeJobStop where you might at least have SOME chance of finding a real work at home position or freelance job.

Like thousands of other fake news sites I’ve come across, News6Boston.com makes the bold claim that Google is Hiring Americans to Work from Home. But News6Boston.com goes farther than most of the fake news sites – MUCH farther.

Not only does News6Boston.com use the usual misleading “As Seen On” logo, but it even sports a cover of NewsWeek above text implying that the Google Kits are endorsed by NewsWeek by putting the following quotation beneath the NewsWeek photo:

“”Such kits continue to gain popularity. No wonder, since so many people lost their jobs because of the global crisis and big companies like Google and Yahoo! become the only option for them.”

Now, NewsWeek MAY have said that, but most likely it would have been in an article warning people about Google Kit scams and the make money posting links on Google scams.

The fake news site WallStreetNews8.com starts with the following paragraph:

Has the online titan now opened the doors for everyday people like you to work for them? If this is true, that means that thousands of people from US and Canda might have a safe and bright future working from the comfort of their homes, all of which will be decided in the next few days.”

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Well not so fast.

First read the following paragraph from WallStreetNews8:

“Google has now opened it’s doors and will be hiring everyday people to work from the comfort of their own homes posting links. The way this works is Google will allow people to signup and receive a package which will contain all the step by step instructions to get setup from home.”

Next, read this article about the Make Money Posting Links on Google Scams to understand the truth about all of these claims.

You’ll get important facts about the truth of the following WallStreetNews8.com fake story that states:

“From her website: “I get paid about $25 USD for every link I post on Google and I get paid every week… I make around $5500 USD a month right now

The fake news site LocalTribune.or is currently discussing what they call a Google Business Kit called SimplePayChecks. You can read about SimplePaychecks here, but you may also want to know the truth about the following claim made about a woman they call “Mary Steadman” at the LocalTribune.org fake news site:

From her website: “I get paid about $25 for every link I post on Google and I get paid every week… I make around $5500 a month right now”…

…which goes on to claim:

“Mary’s story is a very familiar one in these tough times. She lost her job as an account rep for a manufacturing company and a few days later her husband also was laid off from his job as part of cutbacks due to the bad economy.”

In fact this is the same story used on hundreds, if not thousands of fake news sites, many of which can be seen on this list.

Among the many, many fake news sites flooding the interent these days, perhaps News6Today stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to making bizarre claims. Not only does News6Today.com start out with a headline that has nothing to do with the rest of the story, but it even goes so far as to include a video that appears to be of a workshop run by Google to make it appears as if the people in the video are talking about the SimplePaychecks product that it lists in the fake news story.

You might recall the serious problems with SimplePaychecks discussed here.

And in case you don’t know what “fake news sites” are you might want to read this post called “Are Fake News Sites the Next Gold Rush?”

Once you read those sites you’ll realize that the following claims from News6Today…

“If you live in America and you have been wanting to work from home, you might be in luck. Google has now released a new “Work From Home Program” that will allow Americans to work for the titan from the comfort of their own homes.

To thousands of Americans this means that they will soon have a safe and bright future working for one of the fastest growing companies in the world.”

…are not beyond misleading.

So do you still believe this story was seen on Fox News, CNBC, CNN, ABC, BBC News, and Fox Business news?

News4Online.net does a great job making the misleading, illegal and fraudulent claim, “Google has now opened it’s doors and will be hiring everyday people to work from the comfort of their own homes posting links. The way this works is Google will allow people to signup and receive a package which will contain all the step by step instructions to get setup from home.”

If you believe this nonsense from News4Online.net, i HIGHLY recommend you read Michael Brown’s article called Make Money Posting Links on Google Scam here.

And if you want to learn the truth about fake news sites then you might want to read this article about Fake News Sites to found out if the truth about the following claim on News4Online.net that might make you shake your head in disgust:

“Mary, a mother from Toronto, who worked with Google in the experimental parts of this program, is thriving, in the middle of an economic recession, working in the comfort of her own home with Google.”

It’s ironic and irritating that the Sandiego-Tribune-News.com site states “For those of you that have seen the ’scammy’ sites on the internet that promise you can make millions of dollars online Mary warns that this is not the promise being made here and that most of those sites are false representations of earnings you can make.”

Why?

Because Sandiego-Tribune-News.com is a scammy site promoting a fake story about a fictional character named Mary Steadman.

As one person posted, “i figured the worst that could happen is that i just wouldnt make any money. but between you and some other sites i checked out, it turns out it could have been much worse than just that. i too, as many of us are in this damned economy, am looking for anything to make ends meet a little easier. but as they say, nothing is free, and if it SOUNDS too good to be true…. it most likely IS. thanks for opening my eyes before it was too late.”

There are a lot of things wrong with the website InternetJobNews.com, but the funniest part has to be the weird disclaimer at the bottom of the site.

You can read about the Internet Job News.com disclaimer here to see what I mean. Of course there are other strange parts of the InternetJobNews site such as the following paragraph:

“Online Giant Google hass been making people rich overnight*. Worth over $100 Billion Dollars, this great company has been helping people to work from and home and give them new jobs. From Michelle Richardson’s own words: “Now, I have seen scams out on the Internet that talk about making $50,000 a month online. But that is exactly what they are – scams. This is my story of my real life where I am now generating a legitimate income from home that easily replaced my previous job’s income. Here’s a check from early last year I got.”

Oh, “hass” it?

SelfWorkHome was a fake news site that seems to have disappeared. For a while I didn’t understand why so many people were posting comments about SelfWorkHome on this blog post about fake news sites, but now it makes a bit more sense, considering how popular the site was at one point.

There is also an alarming story someone posted on the blog that appears to be real in which they state:

“It’s just awful, I have had such a hard time finding work, figured I’d put up an ad “Looking for work” with all my experience. In hopes of a job to get my gas turned back on (I’m freezing here, boiling water on electric burner to bath with) about to loose the power, REALLY need a job! AND THIS IS ALL I’VE RECEIVED! I just Hope to God something comes around soon. I’m such a dedicated, hard working individual. In this economy today it’s only getting harder to get work. For example, a janitorial job opened up at a local school here…. OVER 3,000 people showed up to apply for that ONE job! If I don’t get a job soon to pay my bills, I don’t know what I will endure.
Still Hopeful”

News 3 Insider makes the bizarre, inaccurate and illegal claim that: “Google makes it easier for you to work for them, even if you have no previous computer experience, or you have basic internet skills such as sending emails. Google will train you from the very foundation so you can easily work for them from home, with the potential of earning $750-$1500 per week or more depending on your performance.”

In fact this is not true at all. Google has NOTHING to do with News 3 Insider OR the InternetRichesGuru kit it’s promoting.

Although, we rarely go so far to call something a scam on the WorkAtHomeTruth site, in this case News 3 Insider is commiting outright fraud.

You can read more about News 3 Insider as well as other similar sites here.
