Special Note: WorkAtHomeTruth received the following comment on another part of the site:
“I paid the $77.00 to learn how to link companies to other companies and make money. I paid by credit card and received an e-mail from Support@topsacademy.com where they thanked me for purchasing the ONline profit systems package with a username and password for the system video training course and a number to call my start-up coach. The username and password they gave me was invalid and I could never get in. When I called my “start-up coach” 2 days later he called to sell me another program and had no idea of the Home Profit System that set up links with companies. Then I immediately knew it was a SCAM. When I called the number associated with the charge on my credit card a man answered “hello” and I asked him about a charge on my credit card, he hung up, when I called back the fax maching answered. I reported this to the fraud section of my credit card and I was immediatly refunded my money. This is a shame that the internet is our communication highaway and there is so much fraud on it, same on them!!! MJ”

I signed up for topsacademy and my account was debited with $97. I have been unable to access the training so have been unable to commence. After readin the comment by MJ I agree that it is a SCAM and will be reporting the matter to my card company to report the fraud. CJW

This obviously is a big phoney scam. I also purchased program but for $97. I did not receive info as promised except for a username and passcode, which does not work. Notified bank to cancel this AM.
I also purchased this product (at 99USD, or 101CAD, from eOnlineMarketing.com), and I didn’t even receive any information – although, this is probably due to the fact that they were requiring a monthly web hosting fee that I refused to pay and therefore did not complete the ’3 steps’ (although the payment went through fine). I used the Tops Academy link above (and two failed email attempts) to ask the company for their ‘guaranteed’ refund, although at this rate I’m not even sure if it’s the same organization. So far nothing, but that was only this morning.
I also spoke to a rep who called me and he also said he was not connected to this business, but that they are hired from another business to sell their own program. I was thoroughly unimpressed and we agreed neither program was for me, and he suggested that I call my bank and cancel the payment (he says he’s told many people this before and that it’s worked for some). He was a very upfront rep, but unfortunately I don’t remember his name. At any rate, I will be calling my bank this afternoon to dispute the charge. Hopefully it works out (*sigh* it’s a new card too).
I purchased the program for $48.50. I received a passcode and username. I could not activate the system with the information they provided.. I called 1-877-700-1094 no one answered. I then called
1-888-684-4706 Customer service and spoke with a person calling himself Tom. I explain the situation to Tom. His response was the phone lines were down right now. I asked him aprox how long will the phone lines be down? Tom’s response was it may be a week or 2 weeks !!!! OMG I ask him his last name he said he was the only Tom there. I knew I had been scamed… I called my bank to haved the charges reversed….. JOB SEARCHERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I signed up, I have not been debited the $97, yet I did receive the login/password info, which do work and take me to the “TOPS Academy” site. I am getting ready to start the online lessons. I will post back soon whether or not this proves to be a wise investment. I believe there is a 2 month money back guarantee. We”ll soon see….
so how is the program going and what do you think about any real prfits or just a scam??@julissa
what happened?
I just purchased the program for $97 and got the password and username and it dose work. But the other day i just got a phone call from a guy from the company saying that he has a great way for me to make money using my credit from my credit cards. did you guys get that call because i thought the only investment we needed to make was the $97.
Yes, I got a call today and he started to talk about using the credit on my card to help me make money! I’m a little confused by this and he said I’ll need to call him tomorrow night to talk some more about the program and to answer questions about what my goals, motivation, etc… are.
I wasn’t going to even pay 97 and when I went to close out of the site I got a half off offer so I went ahead and paid the 48.50 to check out this “home business” and just hope it pans out!!
I received a call to, but they didn’t say anything about my card, but they have offered to have someone who’s been thru it help me… need is boss to OK me? was that the same as urs?
I paid 48.50 and I received the learning information tools and all that but it wanted me to fork out 188 for the brain website. I just thought this was a company i’d be working for in a way, i thought it would be a little more laid out like it was made out to be. I called 888-684-4706 and canceled my transaction I got fast friendly service and he said it would be taken off in about 5 business days, hope that holds true.
Did you get your money back, or have you stuck with it??
I have done pretty much the same as i’m hearing and it seems that it is a very sly scam .My advise let it go
I thought that was too step to pay for brainhost to. I looked into other sites like that and really like gatorhost. Just have to wait til I get paid again to start it up.
I’d definitely pick hostgator over Brainhost.
I just typed in the http address in the address bar and was able to pull up the web site, and it did take my email and password…but as I went on to learn about the “Brain Host” recommended in order to start making money it was going to cost over $6.00 a month or they want you to pay for more than a year up front…this is a hidden cost I was not aware of. It all does sound “too good to be true”! I wasn’t going to pay the 97, but when I went to close out of the site it offered 1/2 off so I went ahead and paid half hoping it was something legit. I started the online training but only did the first section so far. Steve Martin, a business consultant called today to explain more and to ask me questions and I am supposed to speak with him again tomorrow night. I am skeptical after reading all of these comments!
Here’s how some or all of your call will probably go:
He will likely tell you to “grab a pen” or “grab a piece of paper” (that way you are following THEIR directions from the start and they are in control).
He will tell you that he has to qualify you.
He will explain the importance of investing in your business and then ask various questions to try to figure out your credit card limits and/or amount of money in your bank (actually trying to figure out if you have money they can charge you).
He will say that they are trying to qualify people to use for testimonials.
He will promise you one-on-one coaching.
He’ll ask more questions to try to “clarify” the amount of your available credit.
End game: You give them money. You lose your money.
You might want to watch this video:
I will watch this video! The scenerio you described sounds exactly like the conversation I had with someone named Steve Martin! He asked way too many questions about my finances and credit cards!! Did you also get roped into this and if so what happened???
I paid the $97 just this morning, and easily accessed the website (and lots of “SPECIAL” additional items to purchase, including a website for $10/month, evidently the main way you are expected to make money). Then i got an email offering the same thing for $48.50! I clicked on the link and saw that it was exactly what i had just paid $97 for. And when i went to close the page, it offered me everything for $27!! So i called the customer support number to see if i could get the lower price, or, if not, to take advantage of the “full money-back guarantee.” I was on hold for a long time (15 minutes or so) and was wondering if they would actually answer, but they did. The guy (Aaron) said he couldn’t give me the lower price but could refund my $$ so i could get the lower price by signing up again. He said he would send an email confirming the refund in a few minutes, but i haven’t gotten anything. I called my bank and they said only the first $97 transaction had showed up, no cancellation, but it could take a couple of days. I think these guys are semi-legit at least, although they are clearly mis-representing what you do to make money. I’m not going to sign up again even for $27, just hope to get my money back without having to contest the charge.
I signed up and have been debited the $97.00 and RECEIVED NOTHING!!!!! I have sent various emails to support@topsacademy.com and no response. I am trying to get my money back from the bank now!!!!!!!!SCAMMMM!!!!!!!!!
Hi
Did you manage to get your money back from bank? did you also get scammed into buying the website builder from Brain host? i did and have seen the website online but got no access to the website so any earnings from it obviously doesn’t come to me! haven’t received any emails from tops or brain host regarding the website or the course. I have emailed them to cancel my subscription but had no reply yet! the brain host subscription is $48 every six month so im just hoping i can cancel this too.

Has anything improved with your situation, and did you ever earn any income??
Did you start in? Is it working are did you run into trouble?
Sorry u guys r haveing problems with it,But i was to and said the same thing that thay scamed me,But i called them and told the agent the same problem u all r haveing,She ask me if i was useing internetExplorer, i said yes ,thats the problem ,U NEED TO USE GOOGLE OR FIR FOX TO GET IT TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM,JUST TYEP IN :Academy.com,go to site, put ur info,And ur in, Just dont use internet Explorer, its not compattable with there program.
My husband just signed up for this and he cannot get into the website and noone has returned his calls / emails. He is now trying to get the credit card company to put $97 back onto his card. Thanks for all the comments they were very helpful.
I had no trouble getting into the website/program. I typed http://www.topsacademy.com into the address bar and it came up and I was able to log on with the password that was sent to my email. I am still very skeptical as to what I am getting for my money, but will be speaking with someone again tomorrow night.
I just bought the TOPS program and I was trying to get the Brain Host and the online chat also mentioned you need to use firefox. I have downlaoded and will let you know whats up.
How did it go??
I paid the 97$ and they sent me my pass word via my e-mail and I was unable to sign in. The next day I tried and tried again and I also e-mailed them the night before. So any way today I called the 888-684-4709 and spoke to a girl named kindra and she also said I needed to down load fire fox, so I did and I still could not sign in, so i called the same 3 back and told a young man the problem and that I would just like to have a refund. He said ok and gave me a confermation # and said that I would have my money back in 4 to 5 working days, but I am still calling my bank. If this is lagit why would he not ask to help me get signed on? This is the first one I have ever tried and this is why. It’s B.S. Or they should improve they’re system, but I cant afford to give away 97$ can you?
They should have been more helpful and offered you half the price!!
I charged $97.00 to my credit card last night. And when I saw the “domain and host” fees I thought twice and immediately backed out of it !!! This morning some guy named Derek called me and asked my what made me want to cancel ? I told him it was all the extea charges. I told him if I had that kind of money I wouldn’t be talking to him then. We talked a bit and he said if I was really interested he would have someone call me tomorrow evening and go over the entire thing with me. All the ins and all the outs. And then if it was not “crystal clear” he would refunf my money. We shall see !! I’ll be back and let you all know.
‘
Yes, but how did you ‘back out’?
On the page I was on (eOnlineMarketing.com – it linked to the TOPS refund policy and my visa was charged to TOPS) payment was “step 1 of 3″ and the web hosting fees were step 2 – which I didn’t complete, so I never got a login from them and therefore cannot get a refund because I never tried the system (a very clever scam).
The charge in step 1 still went through however. Did you get your money back?
If you can’t get a refund from the company, you’ll need to file a dispute with your credit card company. The dispute procedures are typically listed on the back of your credit card statement.

Also—-when I was backing out~~~I noticed for the next one who did this the price was only $77.00 !!!!!
What happened and did you stick with it???
I think it is kinda rotten how big companies make you pay for the “Kit” to get started in their program making the big money. What ever happened to the programs that you don’t pay till youstart making maoey, and then they take your membership out of your first pay? I am on disability and get a check once a month. The pay is the beginning of the month and your advertising is buy now, offer ends in so many days. REALLY, you can do better than that.
I want my money back, I’ve changed my mind. Thank You!
Norrine,
You’re posting your refund request on a site warning you to stay away from Tops Academy. You need to talk to the company directly – and if they won’t refund you, then you need to file a dispute with your credit card company or bank.
i JUST SIGNED UP FOR THIS PROGRAM BUT, AFTER READING ALL OF THESE NEGATIVE REPLYS…iAM ASKING MYSELF WHAT THE HECK DID I GET MYSELF INTO…SHOULD HAVE DONE MY RESEACH BEFORE I JUMED INTO SOMETHING UNKNOWN…WHATS THE SAYING IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ,THEN MAYBE ITS A SCAM…IF THIS IS SO PROFITABLE, THEN WHY ISNT EVERYONE DOING THIS???? I HOPE IAM WRONG,…
What have you found out, and did you stick with it??
I signed up for the $97 and was asked about all the “limited time offers” as other people have said. I use internet explorer and CAN get in no problem. I am DEFINITELY backing out after reading these comments. Plus I thought it was kinda screwy when I first signed up they asked for my name and phone # to see if there are any positions left in my town. I enetered my name and # and it said there were three positions left. I was wondering how they could know that without my area code. I wasn’t looking to make millions or even thousands…just a little something on the side from my full time job while I’m going to school, but this is a scam.
This is advertised to teach you how to do postings on websites for big companies. Maybe it does. The thing to realize is that this is NOT a job offering. They are (in reality) offering an opportunity to work from home in your own online business. It is not advertised that way I know and that is kind of crappy. A real business will take some investment. Has anyone finished the course?
Looking forward to hearing if you guys learn the system and make some money.
I called and spoke to customer service tonite after experiencing a similar situation with no access and no call backs.. he cancelled and was to process a refund tonite…we will see
I didn’t even purchase the system and just received my credit card bill. I was charged $97 for just filling out the information. I wanted to think it over, but they now have charged me the $ and I received nothing. I believe this is more than a Scam, they have gotten into Fraud.
has anyone made money off of this program and how did you start because i have purchased it and i just got a call from a guy saying that he can make me more money by using my credit on my current credit cards.
My strong recommendation to you is to NOT talk to that guy anymore. That’s typical boiler room tactics to squeeze as much money out of you as possible.
Is there anyone out there who has had success and made a decent income through this home business?? If so, I want to know how you did it and did it really take 10-15 hrs a week like they told me?? I hope I didn’t waste my money!!!
I signed up for the TOPS Academy program several weeks ago. I am still skeptical, but decided to make a commitment to complete the course so I will know for sure whether or not it is a scam. And, of course, like all programs you sign up for over the Internet there are always additional “offers”, which is disappointing to me. I, too, received the personal call about using my credit to make money and so far have declined that because I am determined not to get caught in that pattern of giving them more of my money before I have made any. I also signed up for a Brain Host account which had the offer to customize a website for me. However, Brain Host did build the website as promised, but now I need to learn how to drive traffic to the website. I was very unhappy with the first website they designed for me. The website is http://www.onlythebestformydog, which is obviously supposed to be all about dogs, but there were articles about fish and cats and pictures of other pets besides dogs. So, I emailed the Brain Host support and in a few days they made modifications and gave me the ability to edit the website with WordPress. I haven’t had a chance yet to update the website, but at least it is now focused all on dogs. Feel free to take a look at it so you will have an idea what you will get with Brain Host. Please understand that I am not yet endorsing this program — I am just being open minded and following the steps. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I listen to the videos on line, ordered it,paid 47.50 and got into it for a few minutes and left the website. The next day or so a man called and wanted me to put more money in to get a one and one consultant. I told him I did not have the money. He was talking about $1500.to $3000. . NO WAY!! Especially since I did not know if I would be able to make money. Since then, I have not been to get onto the website. After visiting this website, I am calling to get my money back because I know it isn,t just me.
I bought TOPS academy last night, They sent me an email telling me my password and it did sign me in. I was watching the videos and everything and they told me that I need to get my website built with brain host. I saw that they were asking me for my credit card number and my ccv2 so I backed up because I thought the only money I needed to spend was the $97. I looked for brain host reviews to see what other people think about it. They were all complaining and saying its a scam. I’m skeptical now. I don’t know what to do. I haven’t received a call from anyone but if I do should I answer? I want to make money and I want to try this but after seeing this comments i don’t know what to do. Should I use host-gator? And has someone made money with this program? Please let me know. thank you very much
I bought into the 97.00 edirect online profits as well. So far, it’s been nothing but a run around, with them asking for more and more money, on nearly every page they send you to. I’ve paid the 97.00…as well as an additional 100.50 to Brain host,…who was supposed to build me a site called Home Cook Guide…(not Home ‘Cooking’ Guide”, that is different, not me.)…anyway,..over 200.00 later, my website does NOT allow me ANY access what so ever…and better yet, has NOTHING to do with Cooking. It’s all about Health and Beauty…a search on the website for cooking, shows “No results”. I took the proper steps to fix this, they claimed 24 to 72 hours for the fix. It’s been every bit of 96 hours…and no changes have been made. They have however managed to try to get even MORE money out of me, for just about everything you can think of. Even charging my credit card, money I did not approve. My Bank has called to warn me that they are scams…MY BANK!!! That’s all I need to know….I’m out,…but I’m not giving up my money,…I will fight tooth and nail!!!!
