HydraMedia affiliate network benchmarked:

Payment Cycle: Net 15
Earnings threshold required to lower payment cycle: at least one $20,000 on the HydraMedia network
Reliability of payments: Very reliable. Direct deposit is available for affiliates.
Number of Offers: 1199. Note this is just the number of offers when we checked Hydra on 10/26/2007, the this review went live.
Frequency of new offers: Usually daily with the exception of the weekend
Ease of finding traffic restrictions and keyword restrictions for an offer: 6 (scale = 1 to 10. 10 = best, 1 = worst)
Threshold needed to get higher payouts: negotiable
Useability of backend: 8 (scale = 1 to 10. 10 = best, 1 = worst)

What type of affiliate should work with the HydraMedia affiliate network

Big Affiliates: Thumbs Up! HydraMedia is an outstanding affiliate network for big affiliates already doing significant volume on specific offers that are already on the HydraMedia network. If you are already doing $20,000/month on offers HydraMedia is running, they should definitely be at the top of your list.

HydraMedia also could be a great choice for E-Mail publishers or those who have in-house owned web properties available for web-placement offers.

Mid-level affiliates: (Probably not, but maybe). Mid-level affiliates such as those doing $150K to $300K or so in commissions per year in their business would probably be best off using other networks such as RoiRocket or Azoogle that are willing to work with their affiliates on shorter payment cycles once they've established consistent volume and quality traffic. The only exception might be in the very rare occasion that HydraMedia has an offer that you can't secure or introduce to another network.

If you plan to primarily run your offers via Banner, E-Mail, or organic search, you might consider Hydra as well. However, you'd still probably be better off running offers through a network with shorter pay cycles in order for you to accelerate your cashflow and build your business faster.

Beginning or Newbie affiliates: Thumbs Down. Newbies and HydraMedia. New affiliate marketers probably should probably avoid HydraMedia at the beginning of their career - especially if they primarily plan to buy advertising.

Because of HydraMedia's Net 15 payment cycle and the high threshold required to get to shorter payment cycles, beginning affiliates would be better off starting with networks with short payment cycles. This will allow them to quickly reinvest their profits into building their business and accelerate their affiliate marketing business much more quickly.

Even if you don't plan to buy much advertising, you're probably still better off starting off with a short payment cycle network for the cashflow reasons stated above.
