Finding useful historical Whois records – SecretCashLoophole.com example

I was recently reading a discussion at the WarriorForum about a product called SecretCashLoophole.com – nobody seemed to know much about it or the person or company behind it.

As shown in this post about using the DomainTools Whois History Database if privacy protection wasn’t put on when the domain was registered there’s a possibility of still figuring out who was listed as the registrant:

SecretCashLoopHole.com - Whois History

  • Red links in the image above indicate that privacy protection is ON as of that date.
  • Blue links indicate that privacy protection is OFF as of that date – hence, privacy protection was OFF on the record dated 7-10-2009 as you can see in the image of the 7-10-2009 Whois record for SecretCashLoopHole below:

But what if you are going through dozens – or even hundreds of records that reside on the same IP that you suspect might be related somehow – as was the case in this write-up of the BBB Alert Regarding Eco Venture Group?

The video below shows how to use 3 tools to speed up the process of finding useful historical Whois records when there are a lot of domains to sift through:

The basic steps in the above video are:

Step 1. Get the list of domains using the DomainTools Reverse-IP lookup tools and extract them using Web Data Parser

The initial list from using DomainTools Reverse-IP lookup and extracted via Web Data Parser was:

  • 20lbsfast.com
  • 30dayprofitchallenge.com
  • Auctioncashsystem.com
  • Automaticforexprofits.com
  • Buysellgeneseo.com
  • Crazyrewardszone.com
  • Dailywealthguide.com
  • Diettruth.info
  • Digitalpaperproducts.com
  • Dppcustomers.com
  • Dppincdownloads.com
  • Freecolondetox.com
  • Freegovernmentgrantscd.com
  • Homecashsecrets.info
  • Homefreelancewriters.info
  • Lazyguidetowealth.com
  • Madisonchronicle.com
  • Musclebuildingworkoutsecrets.com
  • Myhomeinternetbiz.com
  • Nationalhomewarranties.com
  • Offertracks.info
  • Onlinedating1234.com
  • Onlinewinnerscircle.com
  • Opinionresearchcenter.com
  • Pointspreadking.com
  • Productreviewcenter.info
  • Quickprofitstrategies.com
  • Quickprofitstrategiesclub.com
  • Secretcashbiz.info
  • Secretcashloophole.com
  • Secure0rders.com
  • Whitenteethwhitening.com
  • Wowleveling123.com
  • Wowsecretguide.com

Step 2. Run the domains from step 1 through Domain Name Status Reporter (or any tool that allows you to get domain record creation dates in bulk).

Step 3. Sort the results from Step 2. in ascending order by creation date as shown below:

Created | Domain

  • 12/18/2001 | digitalpaperproducts com
  • 1/12/2006 | auctioncashsystem com
  • 7/31/2007 | buysellgeneseo com
  • 11/25/2007 | dailywealthguide com
  • 2/10/2008 | dppcustomers com
  • 5/24/2008 | quickprofitstrategies com
  • 6/13/2008 | lazyguidetowealth com
  • 7/18/2008 | automaticforexprofits com
  • 11/10/2008 | whitenteethwhitening com
  • 11/14/2008 | freegovernmentgrantscd com
  • 12/15/2008 | wowsecretguide com
  • 12/24/2008 | homefreelancewriters info
  • 1/7/2009 | productreviewcenter info
  • 1/13/2009 | offertracks info
  • 5/5/2009 | freecolondetox com
  • 5/24/2009 | diettruth info
  • 6/1/2009 | 20lbsfast com
  • 7/7/2009 | secretcashloophole com

  • 8/1/2009 | wowleveling123 com
  • 8/31/2009 | secure0rders com
  • 9/5/2009 | homecashsecrets info
  • 9/5/2009 | secretcashbiz info
  • 10/4/2009 | nationalhomewarranties com
  • 1/5/2010 | opinionresearchcenter com
  • 1/7/2010 | crazyrewardszone com
  • 1/7/2010 | onlinewinnerscircle com
  • 1/31/2010 | dppincdownloads com
  • 3/6/2010 | pointspreadking com
  • 3/26/2010 | madisonchronicle com
  • 3/26/2010 | musclebuildingworkoutsecrets com
  • 4/19/2010 | 30dayprofitchallenge com
  • 6/1/2010 | onlinedating1234 com
  • 6/23/2010 | quickprofitstrategiesclub com

Step 4. Check historical Whois records for domains with the earliest record creation dates

The reason to look for the records with the earliest creation dates is because often once a company or person puts privacy protection on domains that are hosted on the same IP they continue to do so (although sometimes they slip and forget to renew during some of the domain history).

Getting the historical Whois information can help in many ways, including:

  • Bolstering the odds that the domains on an IP are all owned by the same person/company – even if domains on the IP have had privacy protection on them since day 1
  • Determining if it’s possible that related companies or new corporate incarnations of previous companies now own domains on the same IP address – which was the thrust of the research done in this post about the BBB Alert Regarding Eco Venture Group.

Comments

  1. Nice post, and good idea. It is odd that for corporations we insist on, in varying degrees, openness as to directors, officers, etc., but for IP addresses and domain names we let people hide.

  2. “but for IP addresses and domain names we let people hide.”

I am all for privacy; honest people need to protect themselves from stalkers, spammers and various other low-life characters. Sadly, online scammers have taken the advantage of this privacy protection too and feel that they can do what they like under the protection of a “private whois”. Thanks for the excellent write-up. The amount of “back-end” research you do for a company is amazing! ;)

Thanks for this post. I actually stumbled back across this when I was looking for information for whois on a website, and I was like hey its the work at home truth blog again!

  4. Haramis says:

Thanks for the excellent article. I honestly thought that using the whois was harder. :D
