"eHomemakers has been around for a long time and is a very professionally run site that really cares about your work-life balance. You can get a sense of how much they care by reading through some of the

Founded in 1998 by a single mother, eHomemakers started as ‘Mothers for Mothers’ – a voluntary group of mothers from multi-ethnic communities. Against the backdrop of the Asian economic crisis, the group consisted of “housewives” who managed their home-based businesses using ICT. Members were involved in women-connecting-women activities to promote the concept of working from home.

The network, while helping its members gain self-esteem through mutual support activities, had to overcome public prejudice about useless “housewives” who did not contribute to the household income. It became obvious to them that more homemakers needed economic empowerment to uplift their gender status."

Although the eHomeMakers site is focused on South-East Asia, most of the topics covered at the site are universal in the world of telecommuting and work in general.

Real-Wah-Jobs is an amazing site for networking with other telecommuting, finding telecommuting job leads and all kinds of other topics related to working at home.

The forum is especially active with genuine dialogue which is usually a great sign for a site like this.

I love the fact that Real-Wah-Jobs is extremely well organized and seems especially adept at keeping up with the flow of what must be an enormous amount of information. The only glitch is for some reason Real-Wah-Jobs doesn't make it obvious how to get back to the home page (you have to click on the big "Real Work at Home Jobs" letters at the top of the page)

WorkAtHomeSpace list plenty of legitimate work at home job leads. As usually the best source of telecommuting job leads is the forum as the job leads are posted on a regular basis.

A good thing to pay attention to when visiting all the recommended home job sites are how the job descriptions are written up. This can be helpful when coming up with search terms to search on when you use the job boards, job search engines, Craigslist, etc. in order to find legitimate telecommuting work.

You want to identify parts of the job description that are specifically related to telecommuting – i.e. phrases like "must have quiet area in the home" or "must have stable, high-speed internet connection", etc. Ideally you should keep a list of such phrases and start to guage how effective the searches are in bringing up relevant results.

There is a section on the main part of the site that lists companies that have been known to hire telecommuters on a regular basis, but those lists are fairly widely known now so your best bet is still to use job leads sections such as the ones found at WorldWideWorkAtHome or learn how to develop your own job leads through techniques like those discussed at WAHM for searching CraigsList here or more extensively in the InYourPJs eBook that Debra Turner reviewed here.

FreelanceMom is a top-notch resources for many reasons. I actually thought it was already listed at WorkAtHomeTruth as a reliable resource, but apparently it's not.

FreelanceMom calls itself the "eSource for Professional Moms" and has been recommended at CNNMoney.com here.

They have a decent list of telecomuting resources here, but probably one of the most helpful sections of FreelanceMom is FreelanceMom's forum here.

The only downside I see is her simplistic explanation on how to avoid potentially questionable work at home opportunities on the first page. Anyone who has read some of my detailed analysis of work at home opportunities in which I use tools such as:

http://www.tineye.com (to identify fake pictures or fake testimonials) – click here for an example of TinEye in use.

http://www.copyscape.com (to identify fake testimonials) – click here for an example of how CopyScape can be used to hunt down fake testimonials.

http://www.robtex.com (to identify related sites beyond doing basic reverse-ip lookups)

http://www.domaintools.com (to identify possible ownership via whois history (silver edition) and many other tools too numerous to list here). Click here to see the basic reverse-ip function of DomainTools in use.

Source code analysis (various reasons) – the TinEye example also covers this.

Tricks for identifying money laundering schemes (typically using CopyScape and Whois lookups together to identify copied sites and determine the original site – money laundering sites often copy existing sites of legitimate businesses and phishing sites are can actually be created via "phishing kits"). Click here for a blog post I did about a trick to help avoid money laundering schemes.

and more will know that detecting possible deception is much more involved than the basic rules there. And while the rules at FreelanceMom may help avoid many scams in the work at home "jobs" or "freelance" area, they could actually PREVENT you from finding many legitimate home business opportunities.

So with that minor caveat – the site is excellent in general – I highly recommend you visit FreelanceMom.com here.

I'm including SmarterWork as a site for high-quality service providers to keep an eye on. The only problem is I've never visited the site when SmarterWork is taking new service providers. Every time I visit I see the message:

"Sorry, we are not taking on new service providers at this time."

So why am I listing it? Because it's a great example of a high-quality site for telecommuting professionals…if you are lucky enough to hit it when they ARE taking on new service providers…and of course IF you get accepted as one of their service providers.

Click here to visit SmarterWork and be sure to check out the information about the type of companies that use them.
